MTL have like 4 untouchables and they would be Suzuki Caufield Dach & Guhle
MTL are definitely not trading two of them for an unproven prospect & 1 year of Lindholm when we are rebuilding

That habs trade is laughably bad.

Guhle is easily worth more than coronato and dach with his age and contract is worth more than lindholm on a expiring deal.

All of these trades are hilariously bad but a rebuilding team giving you a 1st for Mangipane is really inspired

Every single piece in that deal is easily worth more than him, and not to mention the last thing montreal need is a winger prospect

Fair enough, I wasn’t sure what the temperature on Dach was. I knew Guhle would be a stretch, I thought having Farrell and Coronato continuing their path together would be enticing. All good, appreciate the feedback.

Chicago will have to take some salary somewhere just to reach the cap floor as it currently stands, and they could do worse than Mangiapane. But point taken

Just to be clear you have Lindholm last behind Dach, Guhle, Coronato, and Anderson?

Florida has a total of two seconds in the next three drafts (and no firsts), and you think that the Panthers are going to give you one of them for one year of Tyler Toffoli?!?!?

Your underlying premise is only half right -- it's a good thing to get high draft picks for rentals, but it won't be rebuilding teams like Chicago, Columbus and Montreal who will be doing that. And Pittsburgh, the oldest team in the league next season if I'm not mistaken, isn't going to be giving you a first-round pick for a 34-year-old.

Toffoli Hanifin are more valuable than that, absolutely no interest in Andersen, PLD refuses to sign long term with anyone other than Montreal, so he isn't doing that

The premise of my thought, is that by taking quality players on expiring contracts, it allows those rebuilding teams a chance at a better return at next years TDL. That was why I purposely asked for their 2024 1st, it doesn’t affect their draft capital this year, and gives them an asset to turn into more draft capital next year.

But a rebuilding team (like Chicago or Columbus, the two most obvious examples) is only going to sell that player at the trade deadline to a contending team, whose first-round 2024 pick by definition is going to be later than the rebuilding team's pick because the rebuilding team's pick is going to be in the first half of the draw (the non-playoff teams) while the pick of the team they're flipping Hanifin or Mangiapane to is going to be in the second half of the draw (the playoff teams).

Columbus would want it to be their 2025 1st, as that aligns more with their competitive window. If you wanted Peeke and a future 2nd or something like that, I'm fairly certain they'd be receptive.

What basis are you suggesting that Guhle is better than Coronato? Not to mention Lindholm for Dach and taking Anderson's dud of a contract.

Not that any of it matters. If Calgary was going to sell they would have done it at TD day. Instead they will continue to toil in mediocrity

As long as Sutter is involved with this team, they won't be retooling or rebuilding. Last week was the time to do that, and they chose the worst of both worlds.
