Busy Offseason
Remove Kolyachonok (just roster filler, wouldn't move the needle for Columbus) and change the FLA 2nd in 2024 to your own 2nd in 2025 and that's a deal.

Laine
If Columbus is retaining that much on Laine's deal, I suspect they'd include a 3rd-rounder and demand Vegas's 1st-rounder this year, especially considering how you're juuuuuuuuuuuuuust squeaking under the cap ceiling there.

Well, you've immediately installed him on your top line, so... probably what a top line winger would be worth? IDK, that just makes decent sense to me.

Columbus accepts. That'd be a very enticing deal.

So Laine with $2.7M in retention gets a late 2nd and a couple of C-grade prospects? Your generosity is astounding.
Columbus declines. They'll get better offers than that.

Laine 3 team trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>thombouch</b></div><div>Is Laine that horrendous? I looked up his stats and he was nearly a point per game the last 3 seasons. How is that too much of a return?</div></div>
It's not that Laine is horrendous; he's actually excellent! But Seattle's 1st-rounder is a really good asset, and since there's no retention mentioned here, this is an absolute slam-dunk for Columbus.

Laine as a top 6 scorer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ennis</b></div><div>I don't like that he's paid top line player money to miss 20+ games a season. He also seems to have some off-ice baggage that carried with him from Winnipeg to Columbus (now he wants out of there too)
It's just a really big risk..
One player I'd like to take a swing on is Mangiapane. He's scored 35 before, and I think under Brunette he could be a solid fit. He's also cheaper and wayyyy better in the defensive end.</div></div>
Um... his issue in Columbus that landed him in the PAP was severe depression over the death of his dad. And he'd have been fine physically if he hadn't been cheap-shotted in the head within the first week of the season.

He's in league assistance because he was struggling with depression due to his father's death. And he got hurt this year by a cheap shot in the first week. Other than that... sure.

wtf is laines value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>Probably less than what most CBJ ACGMs are asking for (myself included), but more than what everyone else thinks.
People neg, but Laine is still a top-line guy, even if his tool-bag is all offense (I mean, look where he is placed on this lineup). He’s had more success than not with CBJ, but because of who he is, the dips get the magnifying glass.
I could see something set up around Kakko and a 1st. Jarmo was never a retention guy, but we’ll see what Waddell is willing to do. If it means upping the asset in a noticeable way, I’m all for it.</div></div>
Not to mention his PAP is because his dad died, and that screwed with his mental health. This isn't a drug issue, like many are intimating.

Would Laine be interesting for Huberdeau
Mangiapane probably nixes a deal to Columbus with his M-NTC. The Flames do have assets that would be tempting, but I don't think you could use Mangiapane to get Laine.

But I’m not taking on Goodrow.
I’d be willing to retain slightly more and swap him out with another good asset, but CBJ are all set on B6 “grit” guys.</div></div>
Heck, Goodrow isn't accepting that with his M-NTC.
Honestly, I think Gabe Perreault (as a similar shot-first winger) would be a significant draw for the CBJ in a Laine deal.

Wow! That's an actually interesting offer for Laine. Or, you know, it would be if Nurse's contract wasn't such an albatross, when we already have one of those in Damon Severson, and Nurse wasn't rapidly on the downhill portion of his career.
Columbus would decline.

The answer to your ponderings is, "More than this." Columbus is likely to retain at least some money, which in this case would demand one of Moore or Rinzel as part of the return.

That would work for Columbus. And to the first commenter, Laine got cheap-shotted in the first week of the season and missed most of the rest of the year as a result. He's more durable than you're letting on.

La La La La La La La Laine
Nope, not gonna get it done for Laine. Garland is a middle-6 forward on a contending team, and we're already overstocked there. Podkolzin isn't an enticing asset, particularly because we'd have to extend him at the same time we're extending other members of our core.
