Screw it:
He is the most sheltered 24 year old top 6 ever. He is going to destroy the cap balance of the team with his deal.
He fits a rush style team, and it may as well be 5 on 4 if it’s a dump and chase scenario, which it is in St. Louis more than not.
He rarely carries the play.
He doesn’t particularly drive shots, Robert Thomas does.
He has as many fingers as body checks this year. 10. 1 every 5 games.
He doesn’t block shots at all.
He’s extremely soft with the puck. If he cannot dangle or deke his way from a defender he will lose it nearly every time. Any body contact he loses the puck.
Yes, he is amazing at crossing the blue line with the puck, and has an instinctual shot. A shot is easy to replace with Timo Meier, or another skater later down the road.
With his speed he should be on a team that can use it. The Blues system does not allow him to excel in his strengths.
He is unequivocally not worth 65 million dollars over 8 years. He isn’t worth 48 million over 8 years.
This will only magnify after his aav hits the cap, and the pieces around him become lesser.
He is a liability who is extremely talented offensively in a manner that does not fit the core play style of the team, and is a net negative despite his goals and assists.
