The cap hit versus cap situation for the league isn't something I thought about earlier. I'd be happy with a 1st haha.

Benning is a 3rd at best imo.

My issue with that trade is we don't want the players coming our way.

He was awful. He brought nothing. Yet somehow has more value than MB. I want neither on the Sharks tbh. We'll see how he does next season.

Even if they aren’t, I think the Canes should do that. I get that Hertl wants to stay in SJ, but how long will it be until SJ is competitive again? I get being loyal to your team, but if Hertl is given the option of staying with the Sharks or getting moved to one of the top contenders, like Carolina, where he could reunite with Burns, I think he might be willing to waive. If he stays with the Sharks, he might never have the opportunity to actually win a cup again.</div></div>

If Grier retains on Hertl's contract it'd be the last thing he'd do as GM hopefully.
That'd be absolutely awful for the Sharks and just about confirm the Canes have dirt on him or something.
