I'm agreeing with you. Maybe you should look at who you're quoting, because that question wasn't directed at me and I'm under no obligation to due other people's homework for them.

You both have a point. Should FO% and +/- have an real place in discussing defensive play? Not really, so he has a point. Do they get factored in, especially in Selke voting? I'd almost guarantee it, so you have a point.
NHL award voting is messed up most years.
No matter how potent your top 6, you can't win, especially in the playoffs, with no bottom 6 depth. One of the biggest knocks against the Leafs in recent years has been that they're too top heavy. Imagine spending $50M+ on 5 Forwards. I'd like to see it.
Considering how often guys who are good in the dot get hyped up as good defensively even when they're average by writers, I'd be surprised if the same bias didn't leak into the voting. Guess we'll see when the voting happens and the results are released.
More voters use analytics now, they’ve been getting the award winners right the last few years. Bergeron is going to win it again, and he deserves it. Pettersson should get some votes though.
Who was the last Selke winner with a FO% below 50%? How about 44.8%? Take your time...
We’re not talking about pettersson coming in 1st, he deserves to be in the top 20 and get some consideration. He is one of the better top line two way centers in the game.
