Would be thrilled with that return for Boqvist, but it's probably a bigtime overpayment. With how his injuries have been I don't know that he holds a great deal of value anymore.

laugh laugh Larkin turned down 8 x $8,000,000 = $64,000,000 from Detroit.

7 x $8,500,000 = $59,500,000 from Buffalo isn't enough.

7 x $9,150,000 Mat Barzal deal = $64,050,000 is much closer to what Buffalo would need to pay.

FYI Larkin wants the 8th year, So he's definitely not going to free agency without it being very expensive to sign him.

I would say Mittlestadt for Boquist is a pretty fair deal. .... he his certainly young enough and has shown glimpses of what he can be.

You said it - injuries. That has derailed a process...... but he is still going to be awefully good.

Respectfully, if columbus got that return for boqvist I think I'd go help pack his bags for him lol. I could see something more similar to a boqvist for just futures or straight up for a guy like mittelstadt. He's a good offensive defenseman but he's been inconsistent and has had injury issues so that definitely takes some of the shine off of his value

I do think Buffalo could be a good fit for a boqvist trade though, so will be interesting to see how it all plays out IRL

Oh look, another AGM where somebody gives up Olofsson for a sack of potatoes, and overpays in a trade for a guy who is always hurt. I thought the point was to make the team better, not worse. Love the pipe dream Larkin signing, though, why in the hell would he sign in Buffalo to play third line center?

Oh my
Maybe during the off season Karmanos can engineer a trade of Casey for Adam.
Getting Adam would give the Sabres two Swedish defensemen drafted in 2018.
Adam certainly fills a need and since Casey if now playing LW, Buffalo has propects waiting in the wings to be in the NHL.
Not nearly enough for Victor, he may get a TBL Hagel return (two very late firsts, nearly seconds) or VGK Tatar return (first, second and third).

I don't see them having a need for Mittelstadt. They've potentially already got 9 guys fighting for middle 6 minutes next year with more guys coming up through their system. Picks for Boqvist would be much more appealing if they can't work out some kind of a package to get a single significant upgrade at LD I imagine.

The difference with Hagel was a much cheaper contract and contract control beyond that. Two 1sts isn't going to happen.

And that Vegas deal..... I remember at the time asking what the hell they were thinking.

Both deals imo, were overpays (although Hagel is looking like he was worth it).

Can Olofsson get a late 1st? Maybe, and if so, more likely a 2024. 2023 has a premium because of the depth of the draft.

Think think it is far more likely (and prudent) if that deal were to happen, getting a good D prospect and a 2nd would far more likely (which just might equal a first). Sabres D deep organizationally isn't there. They need to fill that out. Imo, the only weak spot in Buffalo right now, and quite fixable.

Mittlestadt by himself doesn't really work for the Jackets. We're looking either for futures or for a better defensive/shutdown LD.

Name-calling says more about you than it does about me. I don’t claim to be the arbiter of Sabres fandom, not sure I would want that title anyway. Learn something about someone before deciding to question their morals. Perhaps it is you who should be better, both in your assessment of people and in hockey trades. Figuring out trades can be hard. You have to think for both teams, what do they want and what do they need that the other team has?

It's CF lol. I post all the time, and 90% of the time there a complete disregard of differing opinions. Your POV can be different than mine in player assessment, valuation etc. People here hide behind screens and spend more time pounding their chests than entering an actual discourse on what may work or doesn't.

I have been blocked a few times because I express my POV, argue that POV and some simply think they are so right, I get the block. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Not how we learned about other organizations, how people value players within them.

I guess our approach is significantly different lol

The Internet is not a place where anyone has ever held their tongue, and if you think it is you must be new here. But I’m not going to attack the person, just the content they’re posting I suppose.

I often think about what any of us would say to a person from even 90 or 100 years ago. All of us have a magic box in our pockets that will answer any question we want to ask it. We can talk to anyone anywhere in the world, as long as they also have a magic box. What do we do with our magic boxes? We use them to watch videos of cats, and argue with strangers, about anything and everything. Well, at least now we can buy food and other stuff with our magic boxes.

Not new here. You aren't the first. But it's lame and you're trying to turn the narrative however you can because you know its lame. Just move on. People spend time making these things. Just be an adult and stfu if it makes you upset. I'm just as likely to be hired as GM as you just remember that homie.

You are hilarious. As someone with over 1000 posts here I would think you might understand that if you post something ridiculous someone is going to tell you. Obviously, neither of us is being hired to do this professionally. Unless, of course, someone needs a good laugh, and if they’ll pay you for it kudos.

Sure, we’ve already seen some bad trade in the last couple years from cap based necessity. My next question is who is going to trade for Pageau from the Islanders in the off-season? With the Horvat signing I can’t imagine they’re keeping him at $5 million a year to play third or fourth line center. That could be one of those giveaway trades, but he hasn’t been what he was in Ottawa either.
