5 years $35 million for Larkin, he'd already be signed by now. Detroit already offered him 8 years $68 million that's an $8,500,000 AAV in case you forgot.. He's not taking less to play for an even worse Blue Jacket team.

Never understood why they thought that Gudbranson deal was good. Crazy what name alone will get you. Was hoping Calgary would bring him back for cheap to play 3rd pair like the Bogosian deal with Tampa. Might have even been able to convince Johnny to stay if that happened

These contracts would sink the Jackets in a couple years. They don't need either of those players because they're going to land a top-2 pick this summer and get their 1C. What they really need to improve on is the top-4 defensemen.

Yeah basically both Ansar Khan and Helene St james said that a deal will get done. Sounds like both think it will just come in just under $9,000,000 per at around 8 x $8,950,000

If i'm Columbus i'd be more worried about the Defense than adding two very expensive 1C and 2C that will cost you close to a combined $18,000,000.

It's a nice dream, but there's no way we're getting those two guys at those two contracts.

This also clips your wings long term. Johnson, Sillinger, and potentially Bedard/Fantili/Carlsson are your future down the middle. Locking into Horvat and Larkin means you have no hope for any of those three.

I would not say that considering Larkin seems pretty pissed about their last offer. I think he re signs but they need to up their offer to 9.5-10. Larkin has no reason to take a team friendly deal. If the jackets land bedard and offer him 10 million I would imagine that would be pretty appealing especially with his best friend on the jackets

Pretty much this is just Detroit playing games with Larkin to get his price down. He's by far their best center and obviously the captain but they are trying to get him down to a reasonable amount as they push into a window. He's good but is he REALLY worth 9.5mil considering Yzerman has made a career of getting good players to take team friendly contracts? This is just Yzerman playing the chicken game and knowing Yzerman HE ALWAYS WINS.

Also I would love to have Horvat on the Blue Jackets but he's legit just a better version of Boone Jenner. Yet since he's motivated to get paid someone is going to pay stupid money for him for no reason. Basically he's a 2C who should be getting 6.5-7mil but since its a contract year he's playing out of his mind. We don't need to chase dumb contract terms based on players who are playing out of their mind on contract years.

No one is playing games with Larkin. He is the captain and will retire a Red Wing unless something goes terribly wrong, which is extremely unlikely to happen.

What I mean by playing games is Yzerman wants his price to come down. This is just a game of chicken to get the best deal for the team and he's going to win because Yzerman always wins in these situations.
