I’ve seen Rags fans say scratched=worthless

Josh Anderson>>>>

If the Habs are smart they will try to trade Anderson (50% retained) , Roy and Floridas 1st for Laf

Smart? That seems like his actual value. Smart would be Hughes paying Anderson 1 for 1

LOL...

Dubas your up

And for people who go huh

Laf is on an ELC, is a LW that can play top 6 and we dont got to send salary back in any deal. Three things Leafs need rn with the tight cap and need for a LW.

Plus while he wont be cheap he wont be a rental that will cost us 10mill next year (i.e. Meier)

To much.

Based on what we saw out of Dach a 1st + 2nd and maybe a prospect goes the other way (Factoring going from 3rd OA prospect to 1st OA)

As if we look at the 2 very similar rn and being a HS often lowers value

Dach went for the 13 OA and the 66 OA pick and had similar numbers with Laf having a few more goals

So I would say a 1st + 2nd and a good B tier prospect.

As rn for young good players the values are

1st + 3rd (Dach)

1st + 4th that can become a 3rd (Lundqvist)

I think thats what it would cost. Knies has 2nd line upside, Toronto's 1st will be in the mid 20's most likely

Yet

If he keeps being forced to play on the 4th line or keeps getting scratched NYR may be forced to trade him

I posted an ACGM a few days ago about it. It was a hard no from Rangers fans. Now that he's a healthy scratch, maybe they changed their minds.

CHI get FLO 2023 1st and retain 50% on Kane.
MTL get Lafreniere and retain 25% on Kane
NYR get Kane 75% retained and Xhekaj. They extend Kane on a friendly deal, 3 years under 6M.

I thought, and still think it's a big overpay by MTL since FLO 2023 1st is a potential lottery winner.

That Florida first would have to go in a trade for laf. It wouldn’t be a 2024. Nice job with that. I don’t think they will trade laf though. But that first would be a piece

Rangers aren't selling Laf. for anything close to what Dach sold for. You're talking about a barely 21 y.o. who was one of the most hyped 1st OA picks ever. He's. terrible rn, but his ceiling is way higher. He's signing a bridge deal this summer and playing out the 2-3 years. After that, the Rangers extend or trade.

Yeah, i don't think they trade Lafreniere unless they need money to sign a big UFA like Kane.

As we saw with Chicago anything is possible

Dach was 21 when he was traded

Laf is the same age rn

And yes while one team was rebuilding the common theme here is a young player not working on said team.

In general one could argue based on what we have seen between the two Laf is worth slightly more due to being a 1OA pick.

Dach was a 3rd OA pick and was got for the 2022 13OA and 66 OA and he had 26 points in 70 games. Laf had 19 goals and 31 points in 79 games

Either way Rangers can keep him but with them he wont develop into much under Gallant as so far its been bottom 6 which isnt what hes suited for or as we saw tonight healthy scratch and as we all know with Gallant its gonna be a common theme this season unless Laf develops into a player he wasnt meant to be.

Dont see either team doing it

If Chicago was to trade Kane they would want Laf going back with picks and then the third team would get a 4th to retain some more salary

So for instance

NYR get Kane (double retained)

Arizona (4th round pick and meh prospect)

Chicago (Picks and Laf)

And you might be going for Kane but Kane has potential to do what Giroux did last year go to his new team and thrive.

Chicago is trading all their young players for draft picks, not sure they want Lafreniere. That why i had MTL involved.

Some rumors have NYR give their two 2023 1st for Kane. They get to keep their two 1st, but send Laffy to MTL, and CHI get FLO 2023 1st from MTL instead of two 1st.

If they are moving on from Kane they are gonna want a young player coming back. After all if they get Bedard of Fantalli Laf makes sense with em.

And while Florida's pick could be high getting a young player they can use is probs more tempting.

As lets be real I dont see Laf affecting their draft position especially once Kane and Toews are gone.

I don't think Laf would affect their rankings, but since they just traded Dach for a top 15 pick, i think they'd rather get another high pick over Laf.

Chicago got enough guys from last year and their picks gonna be top 5 so rather than be concerned on the other 1sts position just get someone u can build around. As with Korchinski, Nazar, and Rinzel already being drafted last year they got 3 guys in the first round of that draft and should leave this draft with one of Fantalli, Bedard, Michkov, or Carlsson and if they do manage to trade Toews and Kane get 2 1sts which yes will be in the 20-32 range but they really shouldnt care as if they can also get Laf they gonna do it.

As in the end when all said and done they will probs have a 1st and some prospects from the Toews trade and a 1st + Laf and maybe someone else for the Kane trade. Should be pretty good haul for em.

Given Rags status, should they ever explore a Laffy trade I don't think it'll be for a pick, but a better (but older player). They already have two firsts for next draft, I don't think they need a third.

Problem is though that the guy they'd settle for would have to be rather cheap, which certainly limits their options. As it stands they have 2,8 mil in their cap pool, and if we subtract the almost a million Lafreniere costs now the player would have to be sub $4M, unless they include cap dumps...which they don't really have.
