Leafs are having salary issues so they move out 3 mil in cap and bring in 4.125 mil... How does that make any sense?

you sure you're not confusing Nick for Marcus Foligno here? because wow that's a lot to pay for a 4th liner making $3.8M.

I kind of loled because it doesn't even really circumvent the cap... you have 5.3mil cap space with a 22 man roster, you in theory can ice a 21 man roster with Palat when he comes back.

Anyway for my next trick... it was Palat's turn next in Tampa, so it makes sense to continue the cycle : P

Don't know how adding 4m Bernier solves the Leafs cap issues. Actually goaltending hasn't been much of a problem with the Leafs. To say they need a goalie, haven't been watching the fine play by Samsonov.

Why would we trade McLeod and Bastian for Foligno? Both of our guys are better than Foligno at this point. Foligno was literally on waivers 3 weeks ago

Foligno hasn't been good since 19-20. TOR made that atrocious deal in 20-21 for him

Trust me, I can’t believe I’m typing this….Foligno has been awesome this year. Doubt the bruins are looking to move him. He either made a deal with the devil or is healthy for the first time in years.

Why move on from Mcleod or Bastian? Not worth it at all for an aging Foligno imo

Don’t follow hockey much huh? Foligno been very good this year and his outproduced those 2 spare part busts combined. Lol.

It’s a terrible trade for Boston on ice. From a cap perspective they’d have to consider it. The really good news is that you could get both players right back when we place them on waivers. Lol.

gonna need more than 10 games and 30% shooting before I call him "very good" (and if you want to be a pedant, Foligno is 3-2-5 in his 10 GP and McLeod/Bastian are 2-5-7 in their 10, so he hasn't outproduced them combined)

It's a silly trade for the Devils because they basically turn two perfectly fine 4th liners into a guy that would slide into their...4th line. Regardless of how you feel about the individual player values, it doesn't make a ton of sense to me. Especially when OP has Foligno at 4C when A) he hasn't played C regularly in the past 2.5 seasons and B) McLeod is more than 7% better on the dot than he is for their respective careers. Just a weird use of resources that I don't think makes your team better

That i agree with. Makes no sense for either team with the exception of Bostons cap.

I follow hockey a ton actually and Foligno isn't exactly jumping off the page to me this year with a whopping 5 points for 3.8m per year. If you watched Devils games consistently, I think you'd see why I'd much rather have Bastian and McLeod over Foligno. I wouldn't trade either of them one for one at this point for foligno

If I was NJ I would not either. But I would rather have Foligno than either of them if I’m Boston too.

So the question I have is how many Boston games have you watched to evaluate how Foligno has played? Boxscores much like the a golf scorecard don’t tell stories. Foligno has played very well so far, great with the younger players. Which was evident after he setup Laukos first goal last game. They type of game he plays is needed on the team as well. He’s a great fit for the team. Losing him will hurt this team. Even if he was not playing well. The cap hit a is the only real detriment.
