don't think blais gets it done and either way it's a bit pointless to trade for someone like bertuzzi. Kakko and Laffy seem to be working in the top 6 and Chytil or Kravtsov could move up if necessary, so adding another top 6 caliber forward doesn't really make sense

I think it's a bit premature to say Tomasino has "fallen out of favor" with Nashville. It's a tougher top 6 and top 9 to crack this season, and I'd think they'd rather let him play a lot in the A for now than saddle him with 4th line minutes and linemates again.

That Los Angeles trade is a deal the Kings would never make. Los Angeles is looking for a top-4 LhD; with RhDs Drew Doughty, Matt Roy, Sean Walker, Sean Durzi and Brandt Clarke in the NHL right now, and Jordan Spence in the system pressing for NHL time, we wouldn't invest a fifth-round draft pick in Hunter Skinner, let alone our proven fourth-line center on a team-friendly deal with term.

Not even remotely close on the Detroit trade. Especially with retention added, you're 2 A+ assets short and Blais has zero value.

Since when does Tyler Bertuzzi with $2,000,000 retention? Only cost a cap dump and a 1st round pick in the late teens to mid 20's depending on how Dallas does this year.
At least add some real value to the Bertuzzi deal, Like Othmann and a 1st and 2nd round pick at very minimal.

Dallas can't trade that pick because it's more than likely going to the Rangers.

You just have to make it the reverse condition. They get the pick if it's top 10 in 2023, otherwise they get the 2024 pick. Then it's tradeable.

That is what I said in my first post on this ACGM. If they miss the playoffs it's more than likely they won't get that back until after the draft lottery.

yes, the Rangers can trade it, so long as they have conditions in place for if the pick ends up being top 10, such as getting the Rangers other pick instead. that's like a big reason why they traded for it, cause a 1st round pick is pretty valuable at the deadline

If Dallas makes the playoffs as soon as they clinch a playoff spot the pick is yours. If Dallas misses the playoffs and finish in the bottom 8 they keep the pick. If Dallas misses the playoffs and finishes between 17th and 24th the Rangers won't get that pick until after the draft lottery if at all. So that pick won't be the Rangers until after the TDL.

They do have the pick, it's just that it might be transferred back to Dallas if it's in the top 10. We've seen conditional picks get traded so many times before, just earlier this season Calgary included the Fla pick (which is conditional) in the Monahan trade. We also saw Tampa do this, trading the 2020 Vancouver 1st they got in the J.T. Miller trade to the Devils for Coleman at the deadline.

All it does is complicate the trades a little, but it's absolutely allowed.

Tampa got a conditional 2020 1st from the Canucks in the J.T. miller trade during the 2019 offseason, the condition being that if the Canucks missed the 2019-20 playoffs, the pick would instead become a 2021 1st. Later, during the 2019-20 trade deadline, the Canucks traded that same pick to the Devils for Blake Coleman, months before the conditions for the pick were resolved.

This is the most prominent example, but there are certainly many more around the league.
