Détails additionnels:
Reportedly Canes have allowed Deangelo to "sell himself" somewhere else, which means they don't have immediate plans of re-signing him. In that sense I don't think trading for him is going to cost massively. That makes him a good target for Dallas, as long as he isn't after a massive deal. I'd be fine with something like $5M at 3 years. Canes get a decent bottom-6 guy, a good D prospect and the 50th overall pick for the draft.

I think the Stars can offer up something of more quality than that. I mean, the Canes don’t have to sell his signing rights.

1. That is a really bad offer.
2. TDA is going to want a 1 year deal or a team to commit to him long term. A 3 year deal doesn’t make any sense for him and his earning potential. If he would take 3 x 5, the Canes would have re-signed him already

I think the "go sell yourself" is a 2 part strategy. I think MANY teams still won't touch him at all. So when CAR offers him a contract that he might feel like is a low ball offer...it's not really a low ball offer. AD should want to stay in CAR. They're the only ones that gave him a 2nd chance.

Normally I'd agree with you but since it's the Canes who is notoriously known for lowballing guys (offering $6M+ for both Aho and Hamilton for instance or not willing to pay even $3M to Ned) etc, I'd have my reservations.

I can't say anything for sure but I'm not surprised at all if their offer for Deangelo doesn't exceed like $4,5M.

Yeah the point of this post that DAL should go after him if he is cheap enough and CAR has no plans of keeping him. It's a lowball offer on purpose - similar to what happened with Nedeljkovic.

The Ned deal was to get something out of an inconsistent goalie who was being propped up by our system and wanted more money than he took from Detroit

Consider the base thought to be the same in this one - Canes getting something out of a D-man with questionable reputation who wants more money than Canes is allegedly willing to give up.

reports said they were many team wanting deangelo services though, all pretty much around league minimum. dont think he sees carolina the way you mentioned it. thats just my point of view of this situation.

Really? You have got to question whatever report you read. I'm curious why the guy coming off a 53 point season in 68 games was bought out of his contract and then when he could choose any team and sign for any amount...he could only get $1M? I mean words and reports are one thing, but the action of signing for only $1M speaks louder than any words. Don't forget he did also clear waivers. I'm not sure I know a better way to show that every single team could have had him and they passed.

well like i said he had he few offer but all prettty much league minimum. from my understanding he chose the canes out of these few league minimum offer. it is a known fact the habs offered it to him too. cant remember the other teams but with reaearch im sure i could find out. i remebwr reading he at least 6 offer (if i remember correctly), so habs, canes and 4 other which seems pretty plausible.

3 x 5 is exactly what I’d sign him to. He’s not worth more than that. And I don’t think he gets back any decent assets in a trade

3 years is ideal imo. It lets him become a UFA and lines up well with Benn’s contract expiring. If he does well and fixes his reputation it works well for both sides and gives the Stars the chance to keep him if things go well
