No lmao. Vasi and Hedman, Cernak, McDonagh are going to eat the west for breakfast - truly unfortunate for both teams (Avs/Oils) great runs.

Neither team matters and I feel bad for McDavid/ Leon (or Mac) as they are the only reason I’m cheering for the Oilers

Foote Sergachev Bogo need to play at least a little bit. Toronto caught Tampa in transition a bunch of times and they're not a rush team. Both these team will get plenty of opportunities if Tampa manages to deal with the Rangers.

In a single game maybe but I don't think there's a defense that can contend in a punch out with either the Avalanche or Oilers over an entire 7 game series.

They'll be made to look human, just like every other team that's played these two teams. It'll come down to their ability to keep Tampa out of their own net.

And that’s exactly why either team doesn’t matter and if goes to 7 I’m putting 20k on Vasi shutout

My opinion on the Makar goal is that it was a good goal

From the angle that shows Makar coming forward, it shows that his stick is not touching the puck until Nichushkin touches the blue line, so technically not offside

PLAYERS. IN THIS LEAGUE. THINK IT WAS OFFSIDE. WHY DOES NOBODY BUT THREE NERDS IN TORONTO KNOW THE RULES??

Hate the NHL. Fundamentally stupid league.

Honestly if Makar did that intentionally, the man's got an IQ of 200. I think we're gonna see a lot more plays like that moving forward.

not at all actually looking for clarity on this; but would be interesting if the majority of people who disagree with the call are players/ more athletes/ whatever compared to the majority of agreeing with the call - just the “psychology” of it

Slightly off topic but in terms of ‘see a lot more plays of’ curious to see if the becomes a trend like the drop pass CHI made so effective everyone else copied.

Ngl the McLean explanation helped BUT I want to see that same play 1000 more times in 1000 more games and see how consistent the league is with calling it onside.

If players are gonna start using the short chip instead of the long dump on a delayed offside, how many times are human refs going to make that call right? Offside reviews are already super controversial and border on not in the nature of the sport. If we're seeing the next "evolution" in possession plays in the league, they need to put sensors in the puck, the bluelines and probably the toes of skaters and take a giant leap towards autonomous offside reffing. The game is already so fast and if players are going to make high-speed, short distance plays, we need something more precise than four morons on skates to keep track of the calls.

I think it's a massively lucky call. Makar had no idea where Nish was and was just booking it. It's not like he was waiting until Nish was onside. Players trying to do this deliberately would be slower, the timing would be off all the time. It's not going to be a massive change to the game. It's just a weird play.

It would probably be like 550-450 either way (if you put that call in a vacuum)

Which is kind of my point: how much longer do the bookies in Vegas continue to tolerate the comical array of shenanigans this league puts up with?

They still put up with starting goalies not being confirmed until 5 minutes before puck drop, and absolutely zero transparency when it comes to injuries (in nature but especially length). I think those are far bigger issues for bookies to force the NHL to deal with than inconsistent reffing. Because at least we can often rely on the reffing to always be atrocious both ways, as pathetic as that sounds.

Safe to say no "CONN SMYTHE" could come from anyone in this series:
A Forward can boast - I lead all skaters with 26 pts but was -38!
The Goalies strut: - I won the series 4-3 in double OT mofo. Had a 6.68GAA & .532 Sv% - I'm King of the World!
