Karel Vejmelka has signed a new contract with the Arizona Coyotes.

One of the ironies of the Coyotes this season is that people look at Vejmelka's SV% and think he's been really good considering the defense in front of him, when in fact his GSAX is well in the negative.

That being said, I think this deal is fine. It's quite possible he turns it around next year and makes the deal look good. Even if he only ever becomes backup caliber there's nothing wrong with this.

He's more of a backup than a starter, and this deal reflects that. Once he gets a better tendie to tandem with, he should settle in nicely. Until then, enjoy being the last line of defense for the Coyotes, Karel. Good luck.

He has a career in Edmonton of 0.906 and is a 0.904 this year while Vejmelka has a 0.905 this year

But he had no expectations so people look at his play like he's really good...

In the end a fairly cheap deal like the above won't break anyone's bank and has upside as he's somewhat young. So it could work out. But people's expectations are just funny

For the situation Vejmelka has dealt with, this is a good deal, if they can get some sort of defence behind him his numbers will look better. But even then good deal
