You never ask a player to waive until you know you have a trade ready
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>1. A homer is someone who is a fan of a particular team and thinks, "my players are way better than your players".
I see homers all the time on this site, including from my own fanbase.
When BCarlo said, "lindholm is in a different conversation in terms of what kind of player he is", that was a red flag.
2. Boston's true need is more or less winning the Stanley Cup.
Everything else is secondary.</div></div>
Considering I believe he’s comparing TDL Lindholm to TDL Hanifin, he’d be right tbh, Lindholm (when healthy) is a much better defender then Hanifin, he’s not wrong when he states that Lindholm is in a different conversation then Hanifin tbh, I’m a Vegas fan and I don’t agree with Boston fans often, but he’s correct in my eyes

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>1. So, there is truth to that.
Good.
If the Bruins managed to get Hanifin in 2015, they would have got an elite two-way defenseman instead of needing to watch Zboril turn into the highest picked bust of the 2015 draft.
But that's water under the bridge ...
2. I am really just comparing apples to apples. Lindholm is a better comp for Hanifin than Orlov.
Calgary can have Forbort instead of Grzelcyk, but I could care less.
And why does Hanifin deserve a Lindholm-like package ?
Because Hanifin will sign an 8 year extension, he's of the same calibre, he was drafted about as high as Lindholm and he produces way more offensively on a weaker team.
That's why.
3. If Hanifin is moved to Boston, he'll became your new favourite toy.
And you'll become a way bigger homer over Hanifin than you are right now.</div></div>
I’ve just quietly been around CF for a bit, but question? Why do you keep calling people homers? Especially BCarlo, that dude knows what he’s talking about. I agree with him here, while Hanifin is good yes, Hampus Lindholm was far more better then Hanifin from when he was dealt to now Hanifin,
Bostons true need is more less stay back and develop young players, not trade away the young guys.

I guess I’ll toss my two cents into this
What Grieg did was objectively not the classiest move and well that’s a lesson learned looking at it for him now
However. Reilly 100% intentionally crossed checked him in the face. Can’t even say his stick went up his shoulders. He didn’t touch them at all. That’s a chicken move and does not have a place in hockey, if you’re actively defending Reilly here, idk man, the excuse of “oh look at back then” is over. It’s a newer, safer era of hockey. Accept it. Saying that’s embellishing is craaaazy
Reilly in my eyes should get 2 but if he gets more it’s his fault. You can’t do that, not now. Two key games to stay alive in the east coming up in Philadelphia and St Louis. Who are good or red hot rn. Reilly also learned a lesson. And will be learning a lesson on how to control a stick

Time to say it again
What are the Wild doing, burning more money for draft capital when your window is now and the flames are right there…..
As for Boston and Washington, I like this for both sides. And I do see Hathaway re-sign with Boston. He seems like he’d fit the scheme perfectly. While Washington finally is getting a kick to a well needed rebuild

(NYR/MIN) - Reaves for 2025 5th
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>The Rangers spent a 3rd round pick in 2022 on Ryan Reaves for one purpose and one purpose only:
To protect the team from Tom Wilson.
According to hockeyfights.com, Reaves never fought Wilson when he was with the Rangers.
The Rangers now trade Reaves to the Wild for a 5th round pick in 2025.
This is horrible asset management by the Rangers.
The Minnesota Wild win the trade.</div></div>
Reaves never had to fight Wilson at all, Reaves presence there would’ve probably been enough to scare Wilson off, now with Wilson out, and the Rangers have some big bodies on the way, plus younger guys, wasn’t needed
Also BG wanted his Nic Deslauries replacement, and he gets it, while Rangers save cash, regardless of the draft picks dealt in Reaves trades, both teams win

(CGY/FLA) - Tkachuk for Huberdeau, Weegar, Schwindt
This could very well be the blockbuster of the decade, I like this a lot for Calgary
**BUT** Calgary needs to sit down right now and get an extension done on both of them (or Atleast Huberdeau) for any future success, and Calgary can absolutely throw the book at him, they have the money.
I don’t get it for Florida, I like Tkachuk yes, but 9.5M? It’s a bit steep
(Now wait for this post to blow up really badly in my face)

(PIT/MTL) - Matheson for Petry, Poehling
I’ll be honest, I don’t get this trade for either side
Petry is the older Dman, had a okay but not a good season, makes more money
Poehling is screwed, Pittsburgh is not the right place to go if he wants any chance at a thorough career
Matheson is very hit or miss, had a better year than Petry yes, but is still shaky, 4 years left could cause trouble for younger Dman to get into the roster, if he falls back to Florida Matheson, good luck Habs

Doesn't make any sense.</div></div>
Keep this in consideration
16th was probably still gonna be traded for Debrincat, they move Murray to get out of more money, while going down 9 spots, but since that fell through, 7, 39, and the 3rd went, I’d assume that is the case, but still a 3rd and 7th to move him out
Also 7th overall to dump Murray, you remember 16?

The Buffalo Sabres did that against the Vegas Golden Knights by planting a story that Calgary offered Matthew Tkachuk for Jack Eichel.

unless Dorian/Adams deny that, which they haven’t, if they haven’t it probably means that there we’re actually talks to trade Murray to Buffalo. I

Darren Dreger et al. got played by Pierre Dorion.

Probably because Toronto got desperate for a goaltender and took a lesser return, also draft day deals much different then a normal deal like in FA
