obviously they are going to sign him. lots of players go the college route.

I know many top players go to college, but he hasn't even played a professional game yet at 22 and he's getting a 2nd round pick.

They acquired him because they managed to negotiate a contract with him as MIN gave the permission to do so. McBain's agent probably doesn't live under a rock and know that the Coyotes are a ****hole, but also an opportunity for big minutes.

It is kind of mystifying that he apparently feels there’s too much depth. But this is just what I’ve been told: He sees a packed depth chart with Ryan Hartman on the top line, Eriksson Ek on the GREEF Line (conceivably, what he feels is his future role), Freddy Gaudreau between Fiala and Boldy, now Jost in the fold and Marco Rossi coming. If he doesn’t want to compete for a spot and instead wants to be anointed, maybe getting an asset for him is the best thing anyway. The reality, though, is that these are his rights, collectively bargained, and you can’t blame him from wanting to pick what he feels is the best spot.

AHL should increase its salary to be similar to KHL salary so players dont resist going to it instead of just going overseas for more money

Like he said. Smart move due to opportunity. Arizona has 2nds to spare. McBain is also familiar with playing in a smaller arena. Not a bad way to get your feet wet in the NHL. Small market team and venue to stay grounded and mild expectations.
