At this point trading him is a losing game for Columbus. Trading him means they're not getting a return worthy of what he brings to the table. They should just sign him for whatever he asks for.

I could see him signing a Kaprizov contract. 9x5 deal. It's a bit on the high side, but it would rid CBJ from the question marks of their most prominent forward from leaving...again. Which is the best thing now for the franchise.

If they should trade him to ANA, CBJ would ask for McTavish+. And we all know ANA is not doing that.

Conversation likely starts at a 1st, top prospect and a good roster forward and something else, but I don't really much of an idea beyond that

If you believe him that he likes Columbus sign him. Bite the bullet. If the off-season shows up and he seems bent on being a UFA in a year sign him to the QO and start looking for a deal.

The contract demands could be large enough to limit the trade value. I am guessing he will ask for 8 years and north of $11.642 million. And probably ends up around $10.5m.

Jackets wouldn’t take this deal. It would be a first, chytil, and Kakko which is probably way more than the rangers would give up

If the Jackets were trading Laine that deal first would be more appealing. Cause the Jackets would be in a clear Rebuild. But Jarmo is on record saying this isn’t a rebuild but more of a retool. My sense is Jarmo wil lock up Laine with a long term 8 yr 72 mil contract. Laine is a finisher. If the Jackets can get some players who can play make around him, he is lethal.
