Grubauer Orpik deal ended up being pretty decent for both teams. Colorado got a number 1 goalie for cheap, Washington got needed cap relief from Orpik's deal, and the cap space they got was used to resign needed players.

in hindsight i think the avs would want that one back but it wasn't terrible.

edit: sorry i was thinking about the valmamov trade. yea the gru one was pretty fair.

Kevin Fiala for Mikael Granlund maybe? The Predators got the better player at the time and traded a guy who didn't fit, while the Wild got a future core piece.

For a time, i would have said that Johansen for Jones was fair. Nashville gets a top line center that helps them keep their contending window open, Columbus gets a top-pairing defenseman that had great chemistry with Werenski. nowadays, i'd say Columbus won since they got that king's ransom from Chicago for Jones.

A few random thoughts from Sunday's games:

1. Chara out, NYI win via SO. Go figure, lol.
2. Ducks are not making the playoffs. Dallas is.
3. Demko is a top 5 Goalie, imo. The fact that he plays behind a mediocre team hurts his numbers.
4. NYR really are a below average team w/o Igor - my pick for the Hart if the season ended today. Price set the bar in 2015.
5. EDM goaltending was excellent this weekend against 2 great teams...an aberration.
6. Kyle Connor is still underrated, imo. Imagine where WPG would be w/o him.
7. Obviously, STL won the Ryan O'Reilly trade with BUF when they won the Cup in 2019. Great to see Tage Thompson enjoy a monster breakout season. He's on pace for 36G!!!


Shestyerkin is having one of the best seasons for a G in NHL history. NYR would be picking top 5 without him.

How is he the leading scorer and he's not on the power play...that's a horrible power play. And I have no idea who this is lol. But the answer is yes, maybe it's timo?

He’s already a #1 Dman, plays with terrible D partners and has elite results at both ends of the ice. There hasn’t been 10 defenseman better than Seider this season.

I agree - Mcavoy, Fox, Makar, Hedman, Slavin, Spurgeon , Josi, and Heiskenen are the only Dmen I can think of who have better overall impact than seider this season

The resurgence of drew doughty but he was hurt so maybe not
