CF cracks me up. NYI fans think that package gets some one like Girard a decent comp for Chychrun, AZ fans think Bailey is a cap dump. After one real good season, AZ fans think Chychrun nets a significantly better package than BUF got for Eichel. And all the sudden OTT, a team out of the playoffs with a ton of cap space is making a cap space move? Sure that all makes sense.

We will have to get rid of Zaitsev in the last year of his contract. By then Norris, Stutzle, Pinto, Gustavsson, Zub will all be on the books and it will get really tight quickly.

4.6m x 3+ years for a top-pairing LHD (at 23) when Bill Armstrong/Yotes FO has identified him as a franchise building block. they would only move him for a package equal to or better than what Buffalo got for Eichel (without a serious injury or looming NMC, to boot).

Has never had a positive CF 5v5, has a negative xGD 4 out of his 6 seasons including the last 2. He’s a nice player, he isn’t a #1 franchise building guy, if he were they wouldn’t even be taking offers on him. Hell I like the kid but even isn’t even one of the 5 best dmen in his division, and yeah I’ll name 5 guys better than him Makar, Toews, Heiskanen, Parayko, Josi and with guys like Klingberg, Morrissey, Jones, Girard, Krug, and Ekholm arguably as good. He had a monster year, he has a nice contract but he isnt getting the package above.

Just buy him out in his last year then, not worth wasting an asset on.

Vgk has yet paid to get rid of an asset. One way or another we will get rid of people without paying draft picks to do it. I beat this drum with Fleury for 2 years.
