If Hughes gets over 8 million then it’s poor management by Benning. Heiskanen got 8.45 and he’s better than Hughes, more established and earned his contract way more.

Makar also got close to that (9 million) and this season he’s proven to be one of the best defensemen in the league.

True, but it still seems wild to think about for me. I would've just liked to see a bit more consistency from him on north american ice before he got loaded, but again, Guerin was somewhat stuck since Kirill had a lot of leverage.

Anaheim, Arizona, & Buffalo’s are definitely great. I think I like that Dallas one more than any jersey they’ve ever had. Edmonton’s would be really sharp if they had the normal logo instead of the all orange one.

I don’t like the jersey, but a coloured version of that Sens logo would look way better than their current logo.

Because no one who isn’t rebuilding has the cap space. (Other than Minnesota, but they had bigger fish to fry, and St. Louis would’ve matched immediately)

Wild could have still OS him even with signing Kaprizov. They have 3.2M in cap space

You might be right on the Detroit/Arizona front.

Ottawa coulda easily given 4.1 (2nd compensation). Blues probably match but it might’ve caused some headaches. I’m sure other teams were in the same boat. It’s sad because there’s literally no downside, you either make the Blues pay 1.3mil more per year, or you get the guy for a 2nd. Screwing with another team should be encouraged, they’re the enemy after all.
