At least 4 of those UFA signings ain't signing those deals. And that NJ trade is a bad idea.

Run of the mill Oilers fans are a strange breed. There's absolutely something in the water here.

Trading Koskinen - and using Bear as the piece of leverage - is so mistakenly short-sighted that it would rival the moves Peter Chiarelli made regarding Eberle, Hall, and Reinhart. Completely knee-jerk, based in nonfiction, and completely terrible deals that only set the team back.

There is nothing in that trade that’s makes Columbus move Texier or draft picks.

To be fair Bear's quite good, and CBJ is lacking in RHDs.

I'd certainly consider bringing him in.

Yeah too many of those UFA's are being underpaid here.

Speaking of strange things why did you ignore the fact that it could be bear for texy and maybe the very underrated Marody is the unloader for Koskinen?

OP emphasized depth scoring overtly in description

Bear for Texy accomplishes that perfectly 😐

Unclear if Marody can provide that meanwhile

Unloading 41% retained Koski doesn't require much

Yamamoto as part of that is the Achilles heel

Otherwise pretty nifty and solid AGM here

With Kassian being... not overly old or terrible... he's nearly neutral at 50% retained and so the deal is basically Yammy for McLeod/late 2nd so not awful

Just seems fair to say Yams >> McLeod ultimately

People are ignoring stuff here... unnecessarily harsh

Value is close, but not type of move Devils looking for.
There are better suitors out there for that Yamamoto/Kassian package.

The idea of having Ethan Bear in union blue has some merit. The idea of trading one of our top-6 center candidates for him has none.

Hyman is Yamamoto on steroids, love his fight, but I want to see bigger bodies on this team, Yammer is probably 3 years away from being really effective and the Oilers need results today. If this is what it takes to get rid of Kassian (who might be more valued in the Metropolitan Division to answer Wilson, then maybe it only takes 500K retained).

Koskinen is probably more valued by the CBJ's Finnish GM than anywhere else and could be helpful to mentor Korpi and possibly Laine. Bear is awesome, but need to make room for Hamilton and Bouchard.

CBJ fans, don't fall in love with your prospects. Texier is just meh right now, you are getting a really good deal here, despite your comments.

UFA values here are low, because they are going to be. Maybe Hall signs with the B's or maybe he wants to finish what he started. B's are pretty old, Edm is just getting started and this comment applies to all the UFA's. They might be interested in winning a Cup and playing with the 2 best players in the world.

I will revisit this in mid-July and see exactly how far out I am (I am close). It is tiring reading the self-appointed know-it-all's trash others on this site. Your poop ain't rose scented y'all.

    BeterChiarelli, be Better.

The McLeod brothers will be formidable bottom 6ers in 2-3 years.

    "Teams needs more scoring"

Proceeds to trade Yamamoto and Kassian, who combined for 10 goals in 77 games this season. The same Kailer Yamamoto who has been stapled to the 2 best scorers in the world who are having excellent seasons this year. The same guy who has 20 goals in 103 NHL games.

Michael McLeod has 9 goals playing on New Jersey's 3rd & 4th line (his brother also happens to play in Edmonton) and is big and is fast and is a Right Shot Center.

Moving KY and ZK allows the signing of Zack Hyman who has 15 goals in 43 games this season and 57 goals in the last 3 seasons. As well as 4 other wingers who have scored more goals than Yamamoto has this season and none of whom have played 1 second with the 2 most dominant NHL scorers this season.

Or shall we wait 2 or 3 more years instead taking advantage of capspace and a recovering economy?
