Description
Adding RNH and Green through UFA isn't really part of this.....just used some of the cap....if SEA had extra I'd expect them to try to get a bigger name player...

your thoughts on any or all of this???
picks realistic???

I used lists given me by other CF users for the most part.

Wait. Why is Calgary paying Seattle to take Kylington? Isn't he a decent prospect? Unlees it's so they don't take Bennett. That makes the most sense I guess

If Bennett has a good year we'll give up a small amount to protect him and lose Kylington. We're super deep on LD long term (Hanifin and Valimaki should be long term top 4 guys, with Mackey, Kuznetsov, and Poirier on the way) so we can afford to lose him.

Why does it say you mentioned me?? I don’t see my name so I’m confused.

That always happens to me when one guy posts. It doesn't make any sense

He probably mentioned a bunch of people then edited the post so that it wasn't just a long list of names, but the ping remains for anyone tagged. One of the Leafs fans on here does this all the time, tags like half the accounts ever created on every thread.

Also LTIR contract are exempt from being taken so they’d have to add him to another player pick

Eriksson Ek will be protected. I think Leafs will just let Dermott, no reason to lose Sanding.

Why not? I think they would. I think they would have to pay more.

No chance that Kraken take Eriksson without a huge payment. Holtby is sketchy enough unless he has a huge year...

-Calgary is probably protecting Dube. Seattle is likely to get Bennett, or a pick (like a 4th) to take Kylington
-No way the Leafs trade Sandin, Dermott's probably the most likely choice anyway. If they really want to lose Dermott and ensure they keep Holl, it wouldn't cost more than a C prospect I'd imagine. I'd think Kerfoot is protected in their 7 (Matthews/Marner/Tavares/Nylander/Kerfoot/Engvall/Anderson, with Hyman replacing Engvall if he resigns prior to the expansion draft) so there's not really an appealing forward (only Brooks and maybe Engvall)
-It'll probably cost Vancouver a 2nd at least to get Seattle to take Eriksson (he's not LTIR)
-I've heard Tampa won't be protecting 4 D, so Seattle probably snags one of Cernak/Foote. If they do protect 4D, the best forward left unprotected would be Palat
-I don't think Philly is willing to part with York right now, even to dump JVR

Overall pretty solid, the expansion draft should be a lot of fun, and the Kraken will honestly probably become my 3rd favourite team right away lol

thanks for the feedback.
CGY-makes sense.
TOR-yeah been over that already lol
VAN-even better for SEA then...
TBL--see VAN
PHI--yeah I was just searching for a random prospect...maybe one lesser down or a pick like a 2nd?

thanks!!! I think so too!!!

Kylington would still be a nice get for SEA I think.

My guess is NYI dump Ladd for a 1st.
And CGY Lucic for a 1st.

Seattle could get up to 5 1st rounders pretty easy.

TB isn't going to take GY.
That contract is dead weight. They will take Palate before that. TB goes 4 and 4. Most likely they give up a 1st or 2nd for Seattle to take someone as opposed to them taking Maroon.

I don't see Seattle trying to win now. They can clearly build for the long haul quickly here.

nice ideas. yeah there's a TON of cap dumps and big payoffs SEA can take. also a ton of good young talent...I think SEA could do a 3-5 year plan and sell fans on that....they're already sold out so as long as the product is exciting it'll be fine....

Oh and Joel Eriksson Ek will get more money on his next contract then that. At least 2 mil, probably more

yeah I wasn't sure about value for most of these guys....but most are younger so SEA should be able to build a sustainable young winner....

Interesting... and to answer your question, I would love for them to pick Neal. Honestly I think it may come at a expense unless they have to reach the cap floor, or does outstanding this year. Now I would never pay with Nuge, as he is just too good. You can only pick one player so... how about Benson, and Skinner for you guys to take Neal. Giving you two prospects that need protection that could be good.

It ain't too shabby. I'm certain some names here are gonna get protected and some teams will not be paying this much to move an asset, while some teams would need to pay more to get an asset, but this is pretty good. Could be much, much worse.

The habs wouldn’t be giving you picks to move Byron, but you could take him if you wanted. However it might make sense to give you those picks if you switched Byron with Edmundson.

I disagree, since it was my idea lol.

Habs are not paying to get rid of a contract that havent begun yet...

Oshie, Van Riemsdyk, Subban, Erikson, Neal, Kesler and Okposo are waaaay to many cap dumps. (around 45M!!!)

Vegas only had Marchessault, Reilly and Fleury (+Clarkson on LTIR) @ 5M+.

Because his contract is terrible and we have a tonne of upcoming D to replace him. I’d expect Seattle to pick Allen or whoever has a better season out of Kulak, Mete, Fleury, or Juulsen. Which I’d expect would be Kulak if he’s still in Montreal.

A case could be made about Allen, but IMO it's pretty clear Seattle wont be interested in 3rd pairing defencemen over help on the front end.

I'm a bit late to the party here, so if I say the exact same thing as someone else, I apologize...

My initial thought was "RNH ain't signing here...", but the more I think about it, if his #1 priority is money, Seattle might be one of a very select few teams that are willing to spend next offseason. I think it's a stretch, for sure, but I think the likelihood of them signing a solid UFA is higher than previous expansion teams.

Ducks-wise, I think someone already mentioned it, but I can't imagine the Ducks paying to move Kesler. I could see them moving Mahura and a 3rd to avoid losing someone like Lundestrom though.

Leafs-wise, no need for Sandin and a 4th. Even if the goal was to keep Kerfoot (I can't imagine it's the #1 priority...his value is probably pretty similar to Dermott's, and they could probably fill the 3C hole cheaper if that was an issue), it should cost more than a 3rd or 4th + Dermott to keep him.

I don't think Philly would send York and a 1st to move JVR, but maybe? Carter Hart and Travis Sanheim are their only two major contracts to sign, and they should have space to fill out the roster. JVR is still reasonably productive, and is only signed for 2 more years post expansion draft. I'm 50/50 on this one...depends on how the teams finances are looking I guess.

For Vancouver, Seattle would be able to take Holtby for nothing (Assuming the team protects Demko). With a $6 mil cap hit (And $4 mil owed), and with how hard it seems to be to move contracts around right now, I think it'll take no less than a 1st to get them to take Loui.

As much as Covid is kicking the NHL's @ss right now, I think, for Seattle, because they're coming in as teams struggle financially, this puts them in an even better position than Vegas was to pick up picks (And Vegas was in a great position to do that). I don't think they're going to be anywhere close to as competitive as Vegas was out of the gate, but they should be decent enough, and they should be loaded with picks and prospects.

Mostly sounds good, but LA will protect Lizotte. He's on ELC and had a good season. They can exposed a lot of other player.
Eriksson Ek stay in MIN especially with their offseason this year, they can't let him go. They already lost Haula and Tuch in the previous expansion draft. They'll not repeat the same error.
Kraken have a lot of better option in MTL. Juuslen and Mete will be available, same for Edmundson or Chiarot. Also they can take Tatar or Armia and try to get deal done before UFA.
NJD doesn't have to retain en Subban. I'll have one year left and I think he can be a good guess. If not, Devils can keep him and reach floor cap hit.
Flyers doesn't pay York + 1st for JVR. I think he can be one of the best pick in this expansion draft if he bounce back this year. If not, Ghostisbehere is another option with 2 years left on his deal.
If Caps were to loose Oshie, they just not protect him and he'll be pick by Seattle without getting picks or player

I don’t see the Sabres trading Mittelstadt to move Okposo. I think they’d be more likely to buy him out. I could be wrong though. Who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️

Mittelstadt has been pretty underwhelming. They may decide to move him now while there's still a lot of value for a developing prospect, especially with Cozens coming through now. They'd be hoping his value allows them to get the cap space (which they'll need later on for guys like Eichel and Dahlin) and they're not stuck in another Grigorenko or Alex Nylander situation.
