solid team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mikescott22</b></div><div>I agree with a lot of what you have here. I might not be in the majority here but I am not a fan of bringing back Erod. A little because of his bonehead play in the playoffs but mainly due to how bad he fell off after his crazy start. Additionally I rather give a 3rd line wing spot to one of the rookies (Puustinen, Poulin, Nylander). I don't know how much more realistic it might be to pair that 2nd in that QO with Kap or Heinen for JP but either way he makes sense to target. I am in agreement that they should not play the draft safe and should take a chance on a boom or bust type prospect (ideally a center or dman) unless a high end winger falls to them. Really well thought out post</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>I am assuming you are referring to the interference penalty he took as the “bonehead play”, but I don’t even think it was a penalty. It initially looks like he caught him up high, but once you see the replay he didn’t and Lindgren just got outmuscled and fell. The great one, 99 also agreed with this statement on TNT and said it was a bad call.
I feel like he could get a bit closer to his crazy start than he did in the second half if he played Center which is his natural position. I also think carter should be moved to wing so it is kind of a win win positional swap.
I don’t hate giving a third line wing spot to a rookie because it allows you to go big game hunting elsewhere.
Thanks!</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>I think it depends on what the cost of Erod is. If $2mil gets him - it would be extremely difficult to say no. He's not perfect(slow 2nd half, one bad penalty in game 6 lol), but a guy who can play center and wing on all 4 lines and put up 40+points is a damn good deal for $2mil. If someone decides to overpay him though you gotta let him walk.</div></div>
If Erod will resign for a 1 year (probe last year wasn’t a fluke deal) then I’m ok with it for like 2M…
But I think he probably has priced himself out… PIT would be better off giving 4th line duties to the kids or some low risk bounce back candidates… buy low on some guys if you can hextall… he’s done rlly well with that so far hopefully his luck keeps going…

Remember Why They Lost
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>The reason they got beat by the rangers was because Louis Domingue was their goalie, because Jacob Trouba is a dirty headhunter, and because of the missed helmet rip-off in game 7. Not because the team lacked toughness. If you look at the analytics, Pitt absolutely dominated the rangers and lost due to a series of unfortunate events,</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>According to NaturalStatTick the Pens had 205 hits at 5v5 compared to the Rangers 187. I actually don't think this team is bad, but they didn't get beat up last year or lose because of little toughness.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Grusofsky96</b></div><div>Penguins have Jarry the entire series they probably would’ve won in 5 games. Even with DeSmith they win that series. Penguins lost because we blew a 3-1 series lead with Louis Domingue in net. But okay</div></div>
The pens had an AHL goalie in net and had some bad luck… they did alot of great things like get in the Vezina goalies head and dominate a deeper more skilled faster younger team… they are nowhere near Colorado but with a couple smart moves they can get better next year to increase their chances of getting out of the first round

Pitt Trade targets
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>I don’t think many of the players that we have brought in to play with sid (use kasperi Kapanen or Jason zucker as examples) have had olofsons shooting ability. If you watch all of his goals from this past season on YouTube, a strong majority of them are him beating goalies clean - often from distance. That is a definable skill which won’t go away, and it is easy to see how that skill would pair well with Crosby. You can count one one hand the amount of players that have Crosby’s level of vision/hockey iq/passing ability in the history of the sport on one hand. Besides Wayne Gretzky I can’t think of anyone who I would put above sid in that regard. On that basis I don’t think it is a stretch to think that if you combine the shooting ability of olofson with the shot creating ability of Crosby it would work out. Plus olofson is still a young player going into only his 4th NHL season so he still has time to mature, and he was on pace for over 50 points over 82 games last year.</div></div>
All fair points

Depends on what happens with Geno to be honest
I don’t think rust or guentzel could carry a line with scrubs like Sid can but I could see one of them (prob rust) moving to help geno or our new 2C…
Tbh Sullivan simply won’t separate Sid and guentzel and now rust has become a mainstay there…
If geno comes back it will prob be the same old same old with a Heinen or Rodrigues or kapanen or zucker with geno next year

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Czu8iks</b></div><div>You don't trade for Oloffson and put in line with Crosby and hope for the best. It's not like that. Olofsson looked good, with Tage Thompson centering his line. Imagine how better his stats sheet would be with Crosby. You added pure scorer to line with HOF center. He is available only because Sabres are getting younger players to play his minutes. He is not getting pushed out by coaching stuff or GM based on, on ice perfomance. Sabres have young winger coming into NHL, and since Skinner cannot be moved, VO is first guy out.
But he can play 3rd line minutes with being extra PP guy as well. If Penguins are looking for pure scorer for 4 mil cap hit, VO is their guy.
Sabres need RHD badly. Marino fits. VO + 2nd 2023 (VGK) for Marino could be the deal, if Pitt is looking for improved scoring.</div></div>
I’m not questioning your logic
But I’ve heard this again and again… trading for wingers for Sid usually doesn’t work out 😂
Also tbh Sid is now playing with the best wingers ever minus Kunitz maybe with guentzel and rusty… so I think he’s content

I have a ton of respect for anyone who takes a big pay cut to help the team…
On the flip side, I have no respect for the entire Toronto maple leafs roster except the old dudes lol 😂

Letang is a cocky little so forget him
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>edeangel84</b></div><div>And REALISTICALLY who replaces him? Are you signing Klingberg to a similar AAV and for 6-7 years? I certainly am not in favor of that. If that doesn’t happen then are we looking for a trade to get a top pairing RHD? How do we pay for that knowing it’s going to cost everything we possibly have in the draft pick and prospect pool to even find someone?</div></div>
I never have said once there is a viable letang replacement… I am proposing that the penguins might be better off spreading the wealth and getting younger and faster and more depth than giving a combined 15-18 million dollars to a couple of dudes for the next 3-5 years who are on the decline…
