He's a 3rd liner, nobody wants Johnsson. Rather have the pick and cap space

I think the best part about this is Pens get more for an RFA then the Leafs get for a goalie with 1 more year at 1 mill in actual money and a 5 mill cap hit. I'd rather keep Freddy if the difference is 500K.

3rd liner? 😂 Sure. Nobody wants him yet 90% of teams trading with the Leafs is getting Johnsson. Sure. Keep telling yourself that.

He's so good, yet the leafs want to trade him everyday for a 3rd. Yeah ryan donato just got traded for a 3rd. you can keep him.

Wings are not one of the teams that want him

I’m no leafs fan but think it’s absolutely crazy thinking of moving Andersen he’s carried yous for years. Swapping him out now just seems foolish in my opinion I can’t see an outcome that doesn’t involve a lot of regrets.

I think its cause he is 0-8 in deciding games or something like that

It's always great when you see Leafs fan (and I am assuming this poster is a Leafs' fan) sell low on every single one of their players that they are shipping out the door. What's not realize then in Frederick Andersen you have a guy that you have a legitimate starting goalie signed to a year, that you could perhaps negotiate an extension with before any deal is made AND is only making $1 million in actual dollar amounts. The Leafs may not get Dougie Hamilton for him, but I think if they chose to deal with Carolina could easily get their 1st round pick back plus a prospect like Jake Bean. I am not even going to comment specifically about the other deals because they all ridiculously undervalue Leaf players.

How many 5-5 goals did he score this year? No need to set your coffee down to count on fingers only requires one hand to add this up. Won’t even need thumb heck can chop a finger off too before coming to the correct answer.... if more people did some research on the players they are trading for you’d see ALOT less Johnsson trades. I think that might be why it’s almost impossible to see leafs teams on here he isn’t sent packing.

Well I guess it makes sense swap him out and avoid seeing any deciding games. Less heart break that way.

You do realize the vast majority of those posts are from Leafs fans, right?
Johnsson may have value to a contender looking to strengthen their bottom six scoring. Teams outside the playoff bubble, not so much.

Johnsson has scored 20 goals. He missed a lot of games this year. When healthy he's a top 6 winger that can play 5v5, PP and PK and gets 20 goals and 50ish points.

You do realize it won't be the exact same teams in the playoffs next year. Bubble or not. Johnsson isn't going to Detroit I'm not arguing that. But to a contending team he has value. He's a top 6 forward not bottom 6.

Leafs don't need to trade Johnsson it just makes sense to move him cause Leafs have incredible depth at wing.

Yes Detroit wants a 7th round pick who's success is a product of playing on one of the best offenses in the league. Please can I get 2.

I think you're assuming when I say the playoff bubble, I mean the COVID bubbles built specifically for the playoffs. I mean on the playoff bubble, as in the teams that have a realistic chance to get into the playoffs come trade deadline time. Not just the teams that have locked up spots, but the few fighting for wildcard spots as well. And yes, I agree. One of those teams may want to add Johnsson.

But to say he's a top 6 is extremely generous. Barring injuries, he would fall outside Detroit's Top 6, which is the worst forward core in the league (Bertuzzi, Mantha, Fabbri, Zadina would be above him). You could make a case for middle 6, to be fair.
