I'd expect that to be a relatively easy no for the Leafs. A good 1G for a 2G, 4th liner, AHL player and a 4th rounder just doesn't seem that good of a package.

The Leafs are getting way more than that for Andersen. Quality over Quantity. I'd rather one guy who can truly impact the roster like Andersen does than a bunch of guys who will not even play

I really like Dumba, but there is absolutely zero chance we move Monahan for him, as it would leave Backlund as our #1C. The only way we can afford to move Monahan is as apart of a package for a bigger fish. Also, recent rumors have suggested the asked is a 1st and a younger roster player for Dumba as no team was willing to giver up a top 6 center.

I think the 19th + Bennett for Dumba fits that criteria pretty well. Which I'm not sure the Flames would be willing to do since we've been kinked to Arizona on Kuemper; however if we can sign Markstrom as a UFA I'd happily do the 1st in 2021 (top 10 protected) and Bennett for Dumba.

Yep. It's a whole lot of nothing for a guy that they don't need to trade.

I think you are right. I was offering cheap, serviceable players to provide cap relief. What I cannot figure out is why so many Leafs fans want to trade Andersen in the first place...

My guess is that he's a pending UFA and they'd like to get something out of him while they still can.

He's not exactly a long-term option anymore, with his age and all. They'd probably want to get a younger 1G...

That’s precisely why i am interested in him for the Wild. He’d be a great stop gap goalie for them, but only for the price Ive offered here. If it doesn’t make sense for the Leafs, no worries.

Bennett and 19th would be an awful idea for the Wild. If we can't get Monahan, I'd imagine we just keep Dumba. Honestly there's no reason for us to force a trade. Guerin was on a podcast at The Athletic and said as much, he's happy keeping Dumba.

Just protect 8 skaters. Parise (NMC), Zucc (NMC), Fiala, Ek, Suter (NMC), Spurgeon (NMC), Brodin (NMC), Dumba. Sure we lose one of Kunin/Greenway/Donato, but we can easily trade them for picks if necessary or just take the loss. Dumba is head and shoulders above all of those guys.

Leafs would love to have a player like Hartman, he’s exactly the kind of player they need and they could put him on a reasonable multi year deal after the season. I’m kinda hoping Hartman is in the long term plan, especially if foligno is too. That checking line shouldn’t be understated.

I think that’s 100% accurate and I would not be upset by protecting him at all. I know we’ve focused on a “number 1 center” but I think that’s really shortsighted. A mid round first and blue chip center prospect goes a long way to fixing up the problems the Parise/Suter/Zuccarello contracts will cause in a few years and set us up to contend around then.

Hartman might be an interesting player for them, but knowing that they'll play a top heavy hockey in terms of cap I don't necessarily see them wasting $2M for a 4th liner.

Not sure I agree that focusing on a 1C is short sighted if it's a young player under control. Just depends on the player, but I'd imagine if we acquired Monahan or Cirelli then the plan would be to keep them for 8-10 years. The problem with picks/prospects is they're risky. Even Byfield or Stutzle have risk.

Agreed. I’m thinking about it from a money perspective. What does a new Monahan deal look like? Is Cirelli at $7 mil by 6 years a deal he signs? I haven’t run the numbers on something like that but my gut tells me we’ll be in Leafs territory in 4 years, except our money will be in guys over 36. I might be in the minority but I’m all for throwing the next year away to compete after that.

Depends on how he performs, I don't think he touches $11M unless he magically turns into a 100 point player, which I'd be extremely happy with. I think if he's a 70 point C then $8-9M isn't too far off. We are fine cap-wise as long as Guerin doesn't sign a Zuccarello. We have a ton of money coming off the books in the next few years with Dubnyk, Rask, Johansson, Pateryn, Bjugstad, maybe even Foligno if he wants too much money. I'm not worried about our cap. If Parise or Suter retire early we can just put them on LTIR like the Leafs did with Horton and the Coyotes did with Hossa.

Well if he gets you 35 goals and 70 points I'm fine with him being meh in his own zone. Maybe he'd be closer to the $8M mark. He's shown he's capable of putting up 80 points so I don't think it's that egregious.
