What did Calgary/Winnipeg do? Between the 2 teams Laine is the only player in their entire history to be a top 3 pick. Both of those teams are significantly more worthy of the #1 than Edmonton, Pittsburgh, or Toronto.

You did this backwards. Malkin is aging out and Gaudreau is in his prime and already a superstar talent. Keep Johnny and trade down for Byfield, who has a similar ceiling to Malkin/Eichel. Also Calgary gets completely fleeced in that Buffalo trade.

Having the stats from qualifiers count as playoff stats isn't helping the narrative that 16 teams are getting both a shot at the playoffs and a shot at Lafreniere.

Lucic is the last person you want in a young locker room. His NMC means you can't do anything unless he approves it! He can't even be sent to the AHL without his approval.

Obviously as a Flames fan I would be more than happy getting lucky for once but Columbus and Arizona are at the top of my list. Both teams could really use a franchise player to fill the seats

In a normal year WPG would have won 1st overall and OTT and DET wouldn't have cared. This #1 pick is being overblown, it's essentially the same lotto as recent years, they only gave the losers an equal shot to draw eye-balls to the tv, which they haven't had much of since March.
