So... in your opinion Marner (who doesn't have a contract yet) is worth more than Kane AND Boqvist, and in order to make the trade 'fair', the Blackhawks must also take Ceci's contract and retain 1 mil on Kane's contract?

Kane is better now and probably better/equal for the next three years after that. No way we take Cap Dump Cody Ceci and give up our best prospect.

as some of you may already be aware, I tend to be a bit of a "troll" on here sometimes. However, in spite of that, I am being completely honest and serious when I say the following statement. Most players are better than toews in his prime. He is probably one of the most over rated players of all time. Toews had no business being in the nhls top 100 players of all time. And he certainly should not have been any where near that NHL legends special with Lemieux, Gretzky, Orr, and Crosby.

All fans should maybe stop giving people reasons to act this childish. Bolland wants some attention all he has to do is chirp the Leafs. Who cares?

I agree that Toews is in a tier below Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, and Crosby, but I don't agree that he's overrated or that most players are better than him in his prime. Toews is a big game player that has helped lead his team to these Championships. Similar to other great players who have won, he played on great teams. For the media to compare Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner at this early stage of their careers to Toews and Kane is just a slap in the face to both these hall of fame players and Stanley Cup Champions.

Toews is a bonafide number 1 center on a Stanley cup winning team, well actually 3 Stanley cup winning teams if we were counting.

ignoring the circlejerk nonsense above, this comment would imply marner should be getting over/around what toews made on his first standard contract, which is when he was in his prime:

toews signed for 11.03% of the cap over 5 years, which translates to 9.04 MIL. So if Bave Dolland is correct, Marner would be worth about 9.5 M on a 5 year contract.

I may have exaggerated when saying that most players are better than him in his prime. But that does not take away the fact that he is overrated. Yes he has won the Stanley cup three times. That doesn't mean he is as great as the media makes him out to be. Matt Cullen has won three Stanley cups. Where do you suppose he ranks in the list of all time great players? Being awarded the Conn Smythe trophy is nice, but sometimes it is more of a popularity contest and awarded more on reputation than being deserved (Crosby winning it in 2016 instead of Phil Kessel). I'm not saying he wasn't deserving of it, just that it could have easily gone to kane or even Daniel briere that year. The fact that the Canadian media is obsessed with him contributed to him winning over the American Kane. As far as the Olympics are concerned, toews could have been replaced on that team with a traffic cone and the Canadians still win the gold medals those years.

I am in no way a leafs fan. At least not since the Mogilny, Sundin, Roberts line. Probably the best line in hockey history.
