He is but, he can't carry his team in the playoffs when they need him the most.

Once again a fanbase that blames one player for their whole teams poor play. Some TB fans had their problems with Stammer, now CGY fans are against Gaudreau.

CGY lost these playoffs at the trade deadline when they didn't acquire a goalie. That was a grave mistake.

Did you watch even a min of the series? Smith was literally by far the best flames player on the ice. They woulda been swept without him, 100%. Which just goes to show how bad everyone else was.

WTF are you smoking. The only bright spot in the playoffs (surprising as it was) is that Smith played like a rockstar. He had @ a 9.17 even letting in 5 + goals a game. goaltending was not the issue allowing 60 shots in regulation is - don’t comment if you don’t watch the games.

Flames were drug down by a bad off season signing of James Neal .
when your top line is being shut down you NEED your 2nd line to step up and score .
the fact that Neal couldnt be part of that makes him publicly enemy #1 if im the GM

that and CGY all year knew they needed someone to play with Smith as a Starter and Chose not to fill that role .

its not your youth core its 2 holes that you had last year your GM either dropped the ball on or screwed up on

I understand the frustration with Johnny, but honestly he worked his ass off trying to create offense.. the truth is he had zero help from his line mates. The biggest name that should be looked at is Monahan, he's not a 1C and when the going gets tough he checks out. When a guy with the skillset of Monahan is expected to be your 2nd best offensive player, you just won't win in the post season. I know he put up 82 points this year, but he's largely a product of Gaudreau. He has to go.. hopefully for a guy who can actually drive possession and create chances without having to be hand fed by Johnny.

I watched the last game, can't really watch CGY games here in Europe, they come at 6AM. Smith wasn't any good in there. Sorry if something were wrong in my assumption.

Peters was heavily out coached all series. Smith did all that he could from it being an embarrassing run away of scores.

If anyone should be feeling the most heat it should be peters

Similar results, TB & Calgary.

There is a very real possibility that 7 of the 8 first round series could be won by the lower seed team. Only NYI has won as the higher seed team thus far.

Yea, I'd say that 99points in regular season is already a superstar.

I know two others have already jumped on you for this comment...but goaltending was the only thing going right during playoffs.

CGY's best players were not good, including Giordano. And coaching was unable to make any adjustments to turn the tide. So you can literally point the finger at every part of the team except the crease.

Oh, and Mike Smith is still sitting at the top of the leaderboard with 188 saves...in five games! 37.5 saves per game on average.

Goaltending was the exact opposite of the issue in the playoffs.

Yeah my assumption was wrong. I watched the last game where COL scored 5 times so I just thought goalies didn't exactly work...
