If Wild Rumors True
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChampEddy</b></div><div>I can see GMJR’s thinking and disagree with you. I would also prefer to get Dvorak/Crouse or younger players on another team but this is a way to get rid of JJ and get players still in their prime and still get draft assets. Eric Staal is an unbelieveable player still and has only 2 years left on an absolute steal of a contract. I don’t think it’s a bad trade at all and I think Mario would be behind it. Pens are all in next 2-3 years to hopefully squeeze out another championship or two out of this teams window. Not gonna do that by trading Kessel for futures.</div></div>
not going to do it by trading kessel in bad trades either.
Honestly, the more I see this, the more I think it's meant to rattle cages not a real trade. Like he's trying to smoke out what he really wants from someone else.

Doesn't help the Leafs cap at all. Nish makes 1.25m more than Zaitsev and the Leafs lose Johnsson too?

1.) he isn’t overpaid. A top 4 d is making anywhere from 5.5 million and up. He makes 4.083 million.
2.) I’d hardly call him injury prone. He has had 3 seasons where he played 60 or less games. 1 was due to cancer, 1 was due to a cheap shot late hit by Minnesota that was a freak accident when he went shoulder first into the boards when a wild player opened the bench door. And 1 was this past year when he got cheap shotted into the boards by a flyer. It’s not like Beau Bennett where the guy would get injured doing things like celebrating a goal, or sitting down (who btw we got a 3rd round pick for).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PenGoater99</b></div><div>There's no way the Pens are getting both Trocheck and Huberdeau and more for Malkin.
Huberdeau is coming off a career year and is signed to a steal of a contract, they won't move him. They have other contracts they can move like Reimer, Sceviour, and Pysyk</div></div>
Then I doubt we trade malkin for that. The pens don’t need to trade malkin. The only purpose in trading Malkin would be to get younger and deeper. Not taking less in talent back just to get younger.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>awesome</b></div><div>2. You are overblowing the Gudbranson contract, they don't need to do a terrible trade like that. He actually played well after they traded for him. They aren't gonna give up assets to get rid of him, and they sure as heck aren't gonna retain on it.</div></div>
Agree. Rutherford moved two bad contracts of Hunwick and Sheary for a conditional 4th/3rd. Sheary stunk, as expected, so it ended up being a 4th. Moving the likes of Gudbranson isn't going to "cost".
Outside of this AGM... There have been a lot of bad "we to to over add in order to dump these guys" on here the last week or so. Gudbranson could easily be moved for a 4th, if not a 3rd (no retention, nothing else going out). Hornqvist would need to waive but could get okay return. Maatta would get solid return with need to "pay". Johnson is the only one that might require some lube but at most it would be something like Johnson and a 2nd for a 3rd, or Johnson and Jarry for a 4th as done in this AGM. But if you go back and look at the last 20 or so AGMs there are just a lot of bad trades being done.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>Do you think it deserves more than a game? I agree that it deserves a game</div></div>
What I don’t understand is one series there’s coincidentally contact into a 5 min penalty, and next series there’s a direct targeting hit to the head and it turns into a 2 min penalty, same rubber chicken on the ice, but one has less blood

I know it's not the 80's, but the #1 rule in hockey to this day (from pee wee to old-timers) = keep-your-head-up-jackass!!</div></div>
That’s no longer a hockey play, direct target of the head, and mcavoy didn’t let up or play the puck. He saw his shot and he took it.

Gudbranson and johnson are not worth nothing which is what an LTIR player is, nothing, so of course PIT would need picks. They are very late picks too so it really isn't a big deal.

Between cleanout day and draft day
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>awesome</b></div><div>that's why I kinda adjusted it to begin with so it wasn't as much unless Kessel had a very good season still.
The problem with doing one where its just one pick and a player is teams trading for kessel are gonna be teams interested in competing either now or very soon. So unless they are trading away from immense depth for a need(for example, Nashville trading defense for Phil) its tough to make happen. There are only a few situations where that would work. There are some teams that wouldn't be able to do that type of deal but could give up picks instead. Then there is the fact of where Phil would or wouldn't want to go. So the number of potential trade partners (IF he is traded) isn't too high.</div></div>
I have never once stated trading Phil would be easy. But they aren't moving him unless there is a real return and how to quantify that return is the problem.
A bubble team like AZ isn't going to give up two 1st. Even a trade to a team like Nashville, isn't likely. Most of the ACGM trades on here between the two really don't give a great return.
And that's the problem in trading Kessel. You got a PPG player, on a very low contract (thanks again toronto the curse of the hotdog still lives on), and there is a NMC, while he's a aging player.
There is really one 1 "bad" year on that contract. The last year. The rest of the years shouldn't be all to bad. Good players can play well in their early 30s so the next two years are just fine He'll only be 33.
He's got at least two high scoring quality years left. The question is what is that worth and to whom.

Pens say yes to Ottawa trade but Ottawa probably says no.
Pens say no to the Arizona deal.
The Edmonton deal is just unnecessary.
Absolutely not on the Calgary trade. If Monahan or Gaudreau/Tkachuk aren’t coming back then no way on that.

Could Rumours Be True
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChampEddy</b></div><div>There is a team in the league that will take Jack johnson for a 5th. Ottawa could be one.
Bjugstad/Petterrsson is necessary to sign other players and get draft picks.
Arizona deal works for both sides and if you wanna throw in a late pick or a prospect to Arizona then go ahead.
Any team trading for Malkin is going to be doing so without breaking up their core. Yeah obviously I’d want one of those guys coming back but it’s not gonna happen for an aging Malkin. That’s a pretty realistic return for what you would get for him at this point and you also get Duchene from the cap space saved from trade.</div></div>
Why would Ottawa be one? They are a rebuilding team. Maybe a contender that needs a 3rd pairing D, but not a rebuilder. And don’t say to get to the cap floor cause they could take a guy like Hossa for a 7th to do that and not waste a spot for their young guys.
No that trade isn’t necessary because there is no one to sign that’s equal or even better that the pens could afford. They are young, affordable talent. That’s what the pens want. They don’t want to get older and worse.
Why would the pens throw another pick to Arizona when the deal is already heavily favored in Arizona’s favor?
Then they won’t trade malkin. They aren’t going to get trade f***ed just to trade Geno. You don’t trade a superstar to get crap return/just picks if you aren’t rebuilding.

Dallas would do that in a heartbeat, but it would be a significant overpayment on the part of Pittsburgh. Honka is 9th or 10th on the Stars depth chart right now, and he's really played himself out of Dallas. He may get an NHL shot elsewhere, but his value is pretty negligible right now
