Karlsson 3 team trade
To all the Pittsburgh fans, STOP GIVING THE WILD JEFF F****** PETRY. First of all we don't want him unless it's for a 3rd rounder plus you gotta retain half his salary (and pay for that yourselves) and also take Alex Goligoski off our hands. Second off we literally cannot even afford his 3.125 million dollar salary if he were to come to Minnesota unless other moves are made or other players aren't signed (Duhaime/Gustavsson). Why should the Wild buy when we aren't gonna win the cup this year and have 14+ million in dead cap? Smarter decision is to save resources and get young guys more playing time. Which also leads to Brock Faber playing top 4 minutes.

Change is needed
I'm sorry, but this post is just dumb. For the Wild your trading away JEEK who is on a steal of a contract for the perfect amount of time so you can buy for the 23-24 and 24-25 season. Which is stupid because the 23-24 and 24-25 seasons are lost causes with the 14+ million in dead cap. Being honest the Wild won't win the cup those years but they can use those seasons to build for the future so it's stupid to trade away picks and prospects in lost cause years. I'd rather they get young guys playing time to build for the 25-26 season. Plus, I question your knowledge when you have Duhaime and Gus sign for literally pennies when you'd be closer to their actual contracts if you were to x2 what you have for them posted here. Plus, you split up Zuccarello and Kaprizov in favor of keeping Kuzy and Wilson together. Imo you'd have better success if you switched Wilson and Zuccy. In my biased opinion as well I wouldn't even accept the trade if WSH offered it. I guess people forget JEEK put up 60 points while being top 10 in Selke votes. Add in the couple of prospects (plus a random Jon Merrill) and 3 picks and you have a trade that is bad for the Wild imo.

I've also been doing other teams as well, so I'm not just singling out one team. Yall had 100+ points but were very ineffective in the playoffs. I will say most of it was your coaching, but your "big" players were pretty much silenced.</div></div>
Our big players were silent, but I wonder how much injuries affected the team. Kirill was never the same after his injury and only had 2 games to get ready before the playoffs and our 2nd best forward in JEEK missed the whole playoffs. Imo missing Ek was bigger than Kirill being silent. But Kirill was quiet vs Deboar and the Golden Knights previously so maybe they just know how to shut him down. But I'd also say some of Kirill's effectiveness works off of Zuccarello who was a totally different player in the 2nd half of the season (in a bad way). Really the Wild were just outmatched, the Wild needed coaching to win them the series because talent wise they weren't gonna do it and the coaching was bad. Unfortunately Wild can't really do anything in the off season so they are just gonna run it back and hope coaching can be better. Can't win a series when your PK is 50% and you take 5 penalties a game lol.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MMXD</b></div><div>So Detroit gets Scheifele and Connor? Where are you getting assets, cap space, etc. Detroit has more to figure out, scheifele isn’t really needed. Connor would be nice, but again you need the assets, and Detroit is fairly stingy. In hindsight I should have used the higher blues pick.
Minnesota I would say finds a way to make room. Dumba is gone which frees up around 5M on its own. Rangers weren’t supposed to get Kane and Tarasenko either and made it work. Doesn’t bother the Jets if the Rangers try their hand. Habs won’t give up a ton because they know he’s coming regardless.</div></div>
Wild wouldn't be able to make room unless they traded away Zuccarello. So you lose Zuccarello, Foligno, Goligoski, and have to get 2x 3rd line forwards and a 6th defenseman for 4 million. I just don't think the Wild do that considering they're looking at 25-26 to compete when the dead cap goes away.

Ya, half of these trades I don't expect to happen. But it wouldn't take me by surprise if they do happen. I see Fleury and Gustavsson being the goalies for 23-24 and then Gustavsson and Wallstedt for 24-25. As for Goose I think it kinda depends on if he wants to play more. He'd be a #7 defenseman here in Minnesota or he could head to a team that would give him more playing time. I see him heading to a team he's wanted rather than staying on a team he isn't wanted because of his cap hit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jeffrey4649</b></div><div>You're assuming all of these picks will be NHL ready for 2024-25. Personally, unless you can fleece someone for Hartman you try to sign him. He's likely increasing his salary after 2023-24 since he's probably the most underpaid guy in the league right now. Because Guerin appears to really appreciate what he brings and if he is healthy and productive next season I see no reason not to re-sign him. Maybe 5 years x $5m.</div></div>
I'm assuming these are the guys that could be ready for the 24-25 or 25-26 season. Some of the rookies won't be ready and/or won't live up to the hype, but that's when the Wild spend their money so they can bring in established players. I'm just pointing out the guys who have the most potential to be ready. Like Spacek on the 3rd line. He was a 5th round pick so I don't expect him to make the NHL, but he was great at the World Juniors so who knows. That's a spot I expect the Wild are gonna have to spend some money in free agency to fill. As for Hartman, I don't know if he gets paid with us. He's been great but he's only been great with Kirill and Zuccy really. And I think the Wild want a better #1 center than that. The real question is if he can perform on the 2nd and 3rd line, if he can I think he stays. But if not I could see his being let go in favor of other options.

There is no guarantee Marner would want to stay in Minnesota. And with the way the management reacted after the playoff loss, they aren't to focused on buying until after the dead cap ends. Boldy is LOCKED into the team for 7 more years. Yes, Marner is better than Boldy. But I'd rather have 21 year old Boldy who's under contract for 7 more years than Marner who is only under contract for the duration of Cap Hell. Imo it's a risk for the Wild, which some people would take, but the Wild have shown no interest in taking that kind of risk with this dead cap. Get Marner a new contract in 1-2 years and Minnesota would start talking.

Toronto trade isn't that bad. Hartman could be a top 6 or on of the best top 9 player. Plus Foligno is a very solid top 9 guy. Add that both players would only cost 4.7 million. And Toronto is sending back a late 1st this year. I really look at the picks traded for guys at the deadline this year. So imo if anyone loses this trade it's the Wild.

Sell All
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>poeticentropy</b></div><div>This is terrible.
But wait he threw in two 7th rounders, what a guy</div></div>
It is terrible, for the Wild. Wallstedt is one of the best goalie prospects in all of hockey, Joel Eriksson Ek is on an amazing contract playing some of the best forward defense in the NHL while also putting up 61 points in 78 games. Plus he'll be a 50% faceoff guys as he has improved on the dot every season and was 49.35% this year.
Breaking it down it's basically
Addison, Foligno, Swaney, and 2x 7ths > a very high second and 2x 4ths. Especially if we consider the picks for guys traded this last deadline.
Min 1st = NJD 1st
So it's basically the #4 pick for Wallstedt and Eriksson Ek. Which in my probably biased opinion is a bad trade for the Wild. The value Ek and Wallstedt could have in the future is higher than whoever is at #4, unless Bedard somehow falls which isn't going to happen.

Another try
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>I've seen him play. He looks good. He looked good in Chi too. I would say he is a good player with good possession numbers. A solid 3 line RW. The disparity here is that Rust is a top 6 RW. Rust is two years older but more talented of a finisher and checker.
I agree Minn is not a fit for trading with Pit.</div></div>
Rust last 2 years (idk who he's been playing with)
44 goals
60 assists
141 games
0.73 ppg
Hartman last 2 years (finally getting some decent linemates in Kirill and Zuccy)
49 goals
53 assists
141 games
0.72 ppg
Ya, Hartman is probably experiencing the Kirill effect but still.
Rust is making 5.125 for the next 5 years, so far it's not looking as good as his ppg fell off this year.
Hartman is making 1.7 for one more year. 1.7 mil for a guy putting a puck in the back of the net every 3 games, that's pretty good.
Casey DeSmith
3.17 GAA
.905 SV%
Has had a pretty good career based off the numbers, but has 1 playoff game under his belt.
MAF
2.85 GAA
.908 SV%
And 168 playoff games under his belt, even though his last one was very bad. (team didn't help him but still)
Looks to be slowing down but I think could still give you a decent shot to win.
So if you're the Pens you are getting a very similar player based off the numbers the last 2 years for 3.5 million less and getting a goalie with better numbers for 1.7 million more.
Nylander is 25, how many more years do you have to wait on him to break out? Maybe a change of scenery does that but if it's me on not really paying much for him.
Don't know much about Poulin but he looks like a decent prospect.
Imo the value of what Hartman does on his contract on a team like the Wild who have absolutely zero money is just so so so valuable. You can call me crazy but for the Wild to get rid of him for a retained Rust, you have to give away a crazy haul. Probably more than what is proposed here.
Because think, the Wild have like 9 mil to get like 5 forwards, 1 defenseman, and Gus under contract without making any trades/cuts. Rust for Hartman would make it so the Wild only have like 5.5 mil to get the same players resigned. So Rust coming to Minnesota isn't just unrealistic, but it also screws us in resigning our other players. So the only reason to trade Hartman for Rust is if the Wild get an absolute haul for him, which just isn't realistic, but it's what the Wild would need to be interested in doing it.

Wild do need 1 right defenseman, but it's for the 3rd defensive line. So I'd say a 2nd to fill that spot isn't worth it when they could just go sign someone in FA. But I could see it happening as he'd be on a really cheap contract.

If Hartman went back, since I feel Foligno is more valuable to the team, that would him only cost an extra 2.8M. Goligoski has a full NMC so I don't see him getting traded. Also not sure anyone is buying 37, be 38 next season, LHD. A buy out, which I know is the reason Minnesota is in this predicament, would only cost 666K for two years. The way I look at it is Kuzy would only cost an extra 1.5M in this particular deal.</div></div>
I'd say Hartman is more valuable to the team than Foligno. Should be on the wing but can play center, plays good defense and can put the puck in the back of the net. Plus his cap hit is only 1.7 mil. If the Wild do aquire Kuzy it would make a a whole lot of sense to move Hartman to the wing with Boldy and Eriksson Ek.

Hartman on a better contract, and at 30 years old Rust is nearly a cap dump which would mean you have to give up assets.
So Wild arguably give up the better player, who's younger, on a better contract, and gives up a 2nd as well?

The question isn't what does Middleton cost, it's what does Middleton cost to the Wild? On a great contract, playing on a team who has a cap problem, great defensive player, playing top minutes, killing penalties, being on a team trying to compete, and still has plenty of gas in the tank at 27 years old. Wild have all the bargaining power. Middleton value to the Wild is just so high, higher than what it would be on any other team, so unless a team can at the very least match that very high value, I don't see him being moved. 2nd and a 3rd aren't gonna cut it.

Wild aren't moving Middleton. Plus I don't think Gus gets 4 mil. Yes, he's had an amazing season but he's still a RFA playing behind a great defensive team, and it's his first year of playing well. I see his contract being between 2.5-3 mil for 2 years till the dead cap goes away, then it's payday for him if he keeps it up. Plus I don't see Addison staying and if he does I don't see the coaching staff having it be at a 2.5 cap hit. Has been benched for Merrill, Goligoski, and recently had Klingberg brought in to replace him. With the cap crunch and Evason showing he does not like his game I just don't see him staying at that contract. Plus Brock Faber is coming who I think the coaching staff would like better based on his game, so that's another player Addison would have to compete with. I see Goligoski, Addison, and Foligno being in the hot seat if the Wild need to move players this summer.

Kuzy would need a new contract, Wild could be out 2 prospects and 3 draft picks, and imo no closer to a cup. I'd rather wait till the dead cap dissappears, have both prospects and 3 picks and then fully commit to it. Plus maybe it's just me but Marat's value is much higher to me. 20 yrs old, putting up more points in Russia than Kaprizov and Panarin (more games played tho but still). But I do see the vision, #1 center playing with Kirill who makes anyone he plays with much better.
