Yep, fair enough deal, Anaheim would probably accept. Don't know why you wouldn't sign Vaaks though, he's a perfectly adequate shutdown 6/7 guy that will sign cheap.

Avs don't need an empty-calorie scorer like Skinner, especially not chewing up $4M; if he's still getting paid by Buffalo, I wouldn't pay more than $2M for him. No way Val waives to go to Buffalo and I doubt they'd want him. Can't see the Avs remaking their defense to that degree.

Let me make things easier for you. Skinner isn’t being bought out by Buffalo, at least not this year. They also probably aren’t going to take the risk on Val because he signed for a very long time at not an insignificant cap hit, and twice has essentially bailed on his team by being irresponsible. If Colorado is lucky, they will be given a chance to terminate his contract without a penalty due to a breach of contract. Otherwise, they are probably stuck with him.

I agree with you 100% but I'm a firm believer where there's smoke there's fire. There is talk about the Sabres buying him out this year (https://www.sportsnet.ca/podcasts/32-thoughts/) , maybe Ruff has told Adams to get him off the roster at all costs. We know next year makes more sense but maybe Ruff was given more say on the roster to take the job.

Lindy is a hockey coach, not an accountant. He probably Doesn’t care about the financial ramifications of buying him out. That’s not his job. However, I don’t see how you make this team better even beyond one season if you’re buying out a 30 goal scorer and paying for a replacement. I think the talk is coming from people who have nothing else to talk about, because they’re farming for engagement during the off-season. The idea of buying him out right now is nonsense, and everyone’s buying it hook line and sinker. Same media principles as normal. They control you by telling you what to think about or talk about. Why do we feed into it?

I think ferraro would be worth the 1st rd.
Trading girard and manson free up 9.5 in cap. That should be enough to sign drouin and Mittlestadt.
Girard can fetch a 2nd and 3rd. Or 2nd and prospect
Manson for urho and 3rd is solid.

Toews makar
Ferraro urho
Kulikov malinski
Jones.

Instead of jiricek and dumba how bout this.

Adams didn't say no to it today in his press conference...pretty much said he didn't want to get into specifics when asked

Do I believe that it was at least brought up in a meeting at some point? Sure, they probably have talked about it for a few years now. But the conversation usually ends when they look at the financial ramifications of making that decision. Buying him out next year will hurt a lot less than buying him out right now, and that’s if after this season it’s still in consideration.

I agree with that but who knows what their thinking is now...is Pegula changing his thinking to where the owner of the VGK's was to win a cup before he leaves this life.
Time will Tell in the next couple of weeks I guess. It could hinge on who/if they go after a high profile UFA.
If it's a top 6 forward I'd like to see Necas...right age etc

They've got the skill. Need drive and net presence and tough gritty players. Our young skill needs that
