Krebs and a flip of 2nd round picks is no where near close enough to get any team to take on Skinner and his three remaining seasons at $9m per.

Better off either buying out Skinner or just letting the contract run to it's end.

Skinner likely isn't waiving for Chicago with Buffalo so close to making the playoffs. And retaining $8.8m in real money doesn't seem like something Pegula would approve. But if those two things happened, the Hawks might consider this.

$5.4m per. Buffalo is retaining.

I would also say yes to this trade.

Read the Additional Detail of the Trade, then get back to me. It's a Proposal, the details can be adjusted. But the '24-2nd is in view of retaing 40%. If you want the '24-1st then no retention and a B Prospect instead of Krebs.

I missed that since it followed the comment about Krebs.

Honestly still don’t think I would accept. I think culture setters are needed and while Skinner is definitely skilled, he has no track record of team success. Is he another one of these players Foligno mentioned this week that are unwilling to sacrifice for team success?

Personally I would go hard after a guy like Teravainen, I know he doesn’t come with the 2nd round pick offered here and the fourth line centre (Krebs) but he plays a more complete game, has won a cup and been a big part of a contending team the past few season in Carolina. In my opinion this is a much better use of financial assets.

Skinner after next year is actually owed 7mill and then 5mill in actual Cash the last 2 years. Think at the TDL or next offseason is a time a team might bite.
But I do like your signings.

Ya, the NMC is problematic, would need to be finesse for sure. Pegula just needs to focus his financial mind on the big picture...still spending below the Cap with retention included.

Only $1.6M under the cap with the retention, not $5.2M, right?

Due to the way you did the deal.

They would be right at the cap limit for the 25-26 season, but would have flexibility after that 👍

Domi probably stays in Toronto and Stamkos isn't signing in Buffalo.

The Sabres need some mean dmen and some mid/bottom sixers who are tough to play against, far too soft of a lineup.

This is a simple no. That Chicago 2nd rounder is #33, there is zero chance they move that pick.

Skinner, even retained (there's a simple way to do that on this website when you add him to the trade), has a contract that lasts too long. The Hawks will need cap flexibility in two more years and aren't going to weigh themselves down a 3rd year with that contract. They will want to bring in a big name free agent as well that will eat up a lot of cap, and will likely make a move next summer.

Stamkos almost came to Buffalo the last time he hit FA, and Buffalo has a much better overall team this time around.

Skinner isn’t agreeing to a trade anywhere. And he has this wonderful thing in his contract called a full no movement clause that says he doesn’t have to go anywhere. And buying him out would be purely pointless. So stop dreaming about trading him away because it isn’t ever going to happen. Ralph Krueger tried to get him to want to leave town and it still didn’t work. If Jeff can survive him burying him on the fourth line, he’s not going to want to leave for anywhere.

For $9m per season… I would hope so!
