I think you guys are overestimating the value of what amounts to Hronek's signing rights are.

Yeah, he's an RFA, but no matter the contract he signs next, he'll be a UFA, if he's traded, it's because he's demanding UFA money, at which point there's not going to be a lot of takers.

St. Louis also needs good younger defenseman and they are getting a very good one in hronek. I also know blues fans have complained about Faulk lately and I think he could rejuvenate his career playing with Hughes. In the end they really aren’t giving up that much to get a really good defenseman.

Faulk has a full NTC, and demanding they eat 2 million for the next 3 years means tacking that onto Hroneks deal. I don't think St. Louis has $10+ to throw at Hronek for the next three seasons, to say nothing of the other items asked.

Aside from the trade, I think you are overly hopeful on those UFA deals. UFAs are going to get paid this year.

Yeah no chance we eat 2 mil on faulk. Hronek is gonna want 7 mil plus. So we are gonna spend essentially 9 plus million for Hronek. Makes no sense. Also doubt Faulk would waive for Canada.

I’m no expert. But trading a 1st, a recent 1st rounder who is progressing pretty well, and eating retention on Faulk while assuredly having to pay 9m+ a year to Hronek seems like one of the dumbest things the Blues could do.
