Description
Anderson is:
A physical presence who extends plays in the hard areas.
Solid skater. Plays with a presence.
Plays hard between the whistles.
Makes sure opponents don't take liberties on smaller, skill players.
Has enough game to skate on any one of the top three lines.

Lyubushkin is :
Predictable. He only knows how to play the game one way.
He's a physical / shut down defender who has average puck skill and brings very little offense.
There are nights his timing / routes to defend can be off - but he provides consistent compete and always willing to sacrifice / block shots in the defensive zone - especially on the PK

Gee if don't like Mikheyev for two more full seasons, I don't see how you'll like Andersson for three.
Yup Luby or something similar would be a nice pickup.

I don’t think you’d want Anderson for 4 years. His style of play will kill his body and is already leading to decline in his play. I should know. I’m 38 and my body feels like I’m 100. Nucks would regret taking him on.

Wow, no. Anderson is a tough forward, but at $4,000,000 a year is overpaid. I wouldn't give Montreal one 2nd rounder let alone two, and there's NO WAY I'd include Mikheyev. Ilya is a better forward than Josh 1:1.

Mikheyev >>>>> Anderson. Montreal would have to add significantly in that swap, not Vancouver

No interest in Anderson. He’s a one dimensional player who would be terribly useless in Tocchet’s system due to his lack of defensive ability and one dimensional offensive skill set. If you think Kuzmenko was bad due to his lack of defensive play, then you’d hate Anderson even more. He’d be in the exact same position as Kuzmenko, being an overpaid healthy scratch because his play brings the team down under Tocchet’s system.

Do not retain salary for Mikheyev and we retain half of Anderson, I think nucks fans would be able to swallow that

His style of play does indeed cause him to miss some games but it's not the reason for his decline in performance.
He's a straight line player and doesn't have the hands or vision for the more dynamic game Montreal is developing.
It's not for lack of effort. He's tried his best to adapt, but it simply doesn't play to his strengths and has so far been unsuccessful.

That's not to suggest he would be a fit in Vancouver either, merely an evaluation of the player to further understanding.

Mikheyev is not a physical player. Speed is his element, but I think physical play will be more important than speed going forward.
I don't know exactly what a fair price for Anderson is, with retention, but I do think he is exactly the type of forward the Canucks need.

For me it's tough to suggest losing Friedman, I think his surprisingly good play saved the Canucks season.

Anderson is not the type of forward the Canucks need. We don’t need a bad, overpaid, bottom 6 caliber forward. Swapping Mikheyev for Anderson makes us a lot worse

He could go to Vancouver for all I care. As long as he stays far away from the Flames I’m happy. I wouldn’t want to be stuck with that contract.
