Hawks pass. Remove the 3rd going back to detroit and they may still pass.

This is correct, unless Davidson thinks they are useful he will stick to the cap dumps in the Bailey formula.

Columbus declines that. That's a lot of retention for a player that can be good.
Detroit declines that. Neither of those players are dumps, so why dump 'em?

Why would the jackets give away a top line player for not much, and also hold the bag on 4M?! Lol crazzzy bad trade, easy decline by jackets...

Hawks easily decline. Taking on $7m in cap hit costs way more than a one round pick swap. Especially when neither player fills a need for the Hawks.

And Columbus declined as well. Laine half retained for two years costs a lot more than what Detroit is sending in that trade.

You guys know the era of being richly paid to take cap dumps is over, right? Quit acting like you got people bent over a barrel, you still need to ice a roster of 20 NHL caliber players or risk pissing off your messiah.

Not to mention, those guys aren't cap dumps, they earn their keep.

lol. no. it isn't. cap dumps were expensive before the pandemic and they will continue to be long after. Teams will always spend to the cap and need space, it's just part of the game in the salary cap era.

And no, Bedard can deal with it, and he is no ones messiah. Many high end players being drafted into rebuilds had to wait years for results. It's just the way things go. If he is gonna get mad and pound his feet after one year, he's gonna have to grow up. But, I get the distinct feeling Bedard is a lot smarter and more mature than that. He gets what CHI is trying to do, and taking on cap dumps for next to nothing wouldn't help anyone.

Fabbri is an oft-injured middle 6 player who isn't worth his salary and arguably isn't any better than Anthanasou, Kurashev or Foligno, who figure to be the Hawks middle 6 wingers next season. Maata is a LD, which the Hawks DEFINITELY don't need more of. Hawks likely need a top line RW to play with Bedard (Fabbri ain't that!), a C and a RD for next season. Like I said, Fabbri and Maata don't fill needs. Maybe the Ducks want them since the Hawks won't.

I’m curious; what does it matter to you anyway? You just looking to argue?
You got it wrong. We are not acting like the Hawks have other teams over a barrel. We’re acting like the Hawks aren’t interested in taking on other teams cast offs. Hawks are rebuilding through the draft. When Davidson feels he’s got his new core in place he will switch gears & start trading to fill holes. In the meantime if other teams want help with camp restraints, they are going to have to pony up & pay for it or take their business elsewhere. It’s not complicated or personal, it’s simple business.
