Good offer for Zegras but Roy won't be trade. He is a high prospect from Quebec. It would make the fans angry. Replace with Farrell?

That isn't gonna get it done for the Ducks, gotta remove Anderson, Harris and Roy and replace them with more high end prospects like Mesar and either Farrell

Anderson in the deal = instant no, we’d say no without him too

Not retaining that much in Gibson, $900,000 max imo

We get a 24 or 25 2nd max and a b prospect for Rico, not a 2026 2nd and a salary shed — we pass

I’d just keep Carrick and resign him

Just keep Podkolzin and make it Vancouver’s 1st for Strome

If I were Kent Hughes and the rest of the front office I would want to see what Calgary does with Hanifin, Lindholm and Tanev before I trade that Calgary/Florida conditional first round pick. If the Flames go full rebuild the pick could be really good in 2025 or 2026.

I mean if all other options are off the table, but if RyJo is included I don’t know that retention is needed.

Honestly, I think a move like this is FAR more likely than a Lindy rental

Your gonna have to swallow close 50% of Gibsons salary to get a contender to bite on him considering how much he is overpaid

IF Anaheim trades Trevor Zegras (and I don't think that he's on the market, at least until he returns to the lineup and shows his abilities), one essential element will be a top-quality player or prospect at either RW or RhD. Anderson is a cap dump, Roy is a LW/C prospect and Harris is a LhD. None of that package is appealing to the Ducks.

I incorporate by this reference everything my esteemed friend @GeneralLandro says in his comment and adopt it verbatim.

That's fair... I wouldn't touch him without your GM agreeing to swallow half of that contract considering the length

Why not... it isn't like you guys are going to compete during the rest of that contract. You can get an extra pick or two for some cap space your probably not going to use

GMs can be idiots (I'm looking at you Brad Treliving). He's a negative value at his current cap hit and not really worth it unless he's around $3.5m range instead of the $6m range. Paying $5m+ for a goaltender (With a few exceptions) almost never works out just look at Gibson, Markstrom, Campbell

His market value is well above 3.5, it's in the 5-5.5 range, which we'd be willing to retain to OR, not AND, take some salary back the other way to facilitate. Failing that, we are more than happy to continue watching him play in Anaheim. He's a great mentor for Dostal, he bails our rookie defense out of a lot of trouble against stronger teams, and most importantly, taking the contract off our hands really isn't a benefit. We know we've got a great tandem in net right now, we just need to give them some run support and not have the bulk of our star players on IR and we'll be winning a lot more games than people think, and with Gauthier, we've taken a big step forward on task #1.

If his market value is 5 mill why would anyone pay significant assets for him at that price?

Gibson 900k retained for a 4th round pick 🤝

Which is a terrible decision.

Gibson is in his 30s. This is his peak of value.

Every day you wait his value drops. Maybe he gets injured like he just did, or age catches up with him.

What’s the upside to keeping him?

You have 1 year of a 34 year old goalie at a ridiculous 6.4 mill when you’re trying to compete again?

Almost as dumb as giving zegras 3 years. No upside to bridging unless you don’t believe in Zegras. Because bridging saves you money in the short term and costs you long term. Why are you trying to save short term money just to have to pay zegras when you’re finally trying to compete

You're right, he doesn't have a market value of 3.5, it's higher, so glad you can see us eye to eye on this.

We are more than happy to keep him, if we don't get the return we want in a trade, we will do exactly that, and with the level of desperation league wide for goalies this year, strong chance we get what we want. It's not like Anderson in MTL where we desperately want the roster spot or need to clear the cap to do anything with the roster.

MTL doesn't really need to clear a roster spot at forward, most of their prospects would be better off getting some time in the AHL with some callups if injury happens. They want a roster spot open on defense, but moving a forward doesn't help that log jam. MTL also really doesn't need cap space, they have over 7M next season before factoring in Price going on LTIR and no big names to sign, and Armia Savard and Dvorak coming off the books the year after.
