Hawks have enough picks in the next few years, I dont think 3 lower round picks gets them excited enough to take on that contract. Little more meat on the bone and they probably bite and hope they can fix him or worse case, bury him.

The pick difference from Tor 1st to Ana 2nd is going to be what, 10 spots, which is hardly worth much? Then we give up another 2nd, Rico retained which is a 2nd + a bit, and Lyubushkin for let's say a 5th.

So you're saying Robertson and Steeves are worth 2 2nds? That's rather steep valuation.

Just an awful trade proposal to the Ducks. They don't want Steeves, Robertson or giving up two 2nds so try again without any of those pieces involved.

What about the Boston 2nd? Not sure which one would be the later pick is all lol

Unless Samsonov can replace Murphy on RD for the Hawks this season, the Hawks decline both of those deals. Samsonov is a pure cap dump to the Hawks. They don't need a G. Three mid to late picks won't interest the Hawks. Not going to disparage Niemela as a prospect. He's just not in the mold of what the Hawks want on their blue line going forward. Right idea, not the right player.

Why is Anaheim giving up more in value while trading the better players?

Buddy, just look at the standings, it should be pretty obvious, we're not catching Boston. TOR 1st to BOS 2nd likely has the value of a 2nd round pick, so that's an improvement. However we definitely have no interest in Steeves and our interest in little robo isn't going to be much, we might take a flier on him, but we wouldn't be paying a 2nd to do so. We'd also ideally be looking for a better return on Lyubushkin, but that's not a major component of the trade since you didn't ask for retention on him.

Our asking prices would be 2nd and a 5th, B prospect of interest, or AHL player of interest for a retained Henrique, and a 4th for an unretained Lyubushkin, or a 3rd and a 6th with retention, all prices are TDL prices.

Better trade idea....
Murphy + Mrazek (1/2 retained) for 1st + Robertson and we'll eat Sammy's cap hit

I’d probably do that tbh what would the price be to add Tyler Johnson to the equation?

Ya....I just can't get on board with the Chicago and Edmonton deals.

For the remainder of this year...I'd rather have Brodie over Murphy....I get that Brodie is older and a pending UFA...and Murphy has term...so longer term it's a better swap....but I don't think we'd be gaining much this year.

If Sammy ends up being traded...it makes more sense for him to be included in the deal that brings back the main piece we want. At the deadline, he's only owed a couple months of salary left...so it's not like you're asking the other team to take on a huge cap dump. Assuming you're trading with a team that's "selling", they would presumably have ample cap space available for this year....I see him as more "Cap ballast" vs "cap dump"...which means we shouldn't be giving up a bunch of picks to move him.

I get fans of other teams are always gonna say "we don't want your cap dump for nothing"....but in reality, it's not the same as trying to pawn off a guy like Mrazek who still had term.

Hypothetically, take the Anaheim trade you've proposed. In a world where Anaheim is happy with the return it would be getting for their pending free agents, I don't necessarily think we would need to enhance the package much for them to also take Sammy in the deal...vs finding a separate trade to dump him so that the cap works.
