Can’t see Nashville doing that, and we don’t need Schenn anyways

I do like Kovacevic as a depth option, especially with his low cap hit for next year

I don’t see Vancouver having Luke Schenn back in their blue line.
Kovacevic to Vancouver sort of make sense.

That’ll be 2 declines, neither team would entertain those proposals.

MTL would want a late 2nd for Kovacevic, otherwise we will keep. I don’t think a team would offer a 2nd straight up for him, so adding him in a Monahan package could make a lot of sense

Kovacevic is better than Kulak ever was. He has a cheaper contract. I expect at least a second and anothe low pick

Juulsen is still around?
Wow.

Schenn has a Cup by being a solid #5 Defensman
Kovacevic is a solid #4 Defensman who's a solid leader for our young guys

Juulsen i just looked up and he's not even a NHL regular , he's Chris Wideman with less success

Kovacevic is DEFINITELY not a top 4 dman, he is a solid #6
We saw this year playing top 4 minutes isn’t ideal for him
Solid bottom pairing dman tho

Juulsen (stay at home dman)
Wideman (offensive dman, PP specialist)
Worse comparison lol

Juulsen has been playing with the poise and presence of a reliable 6th man for the last fifteen games. A handful of mistakes, but for the most part can recover the puck and make a good first pass out of the zone. Recently, I think it was the game in Nashville, he had two forecheckers coming at him and Juulsen made a calm, crisp pass off the boards that took both guys out of the play. He's playing well, but it is a small window and it remains to be seen if he can keep it up long-term. So far, so good though.

Kovacevic wouldn't be a #4 on the Canucks (likely a #7 like Juulsen).

So let me get this straight; you would trade a 2nd + 5th for a guy who has:

114 GP | 4 G | 19 A | 23 Pts | 15:05 ATOI | 50.5 CF%

Fantastic, because those are Haydn Fluery's stats, and he was traded for a 6th round pick and a 7th defenseman.

When he was traded, Haydn Fleury had 167 games, so that ain’t his stats. He had 24 pts and 5 goals. He also wanted out and Carolina wanted to give him a chance

Fleury didn’t have term and he had almost double Kovacevic cap hit. He didn’t even have a 15 pts season

Kovacevic has 114 games, 7 goals, 13 assists, 20 pts with a 17:18 ice time. That’s much closer to the stats you showed

Would you give a second and a fifth to a D that has :
133 games / 4 goals / 19 pts / 18:48 ice time

Sure, comparable size, comparable stats. Fleury may not have had term on his deal, but he did have RFA status whereas Kovacevic is UFA. They're both big guys (6'4/208 | 6'5/233)

Fleury only had 1 goal in his remaining games with Carolina, so the point production still stands. It's a comparable deal, you're just upset you got hoodwinked into agreeing to give up a 2nd + 5th for a guy who clearly wasn't worth that much.

But the stats you said are 100% invorrect and much closer to Kovacevic’s stats. When he was traded, Fleury didn’t have that. One year earlier, Canes fans wanted a lot for him.

And of course I’m mad that I got tricked with stats (that aren’t even real)

Those are stats. Is Kovacevic worth more than Fleury was? In a vacuum, probably not. Kovacevic is 26 (27 at the start of next season) and its unlikely his trajectory will continue to improve. At least with Fleury (who was 24 at the time) there was hope that a change of scenery would bring back his performance. The only advantage the Habs have is that Kovacevic could be a reliable #6 on a league minimum deal, and a cap-strapped team might pay through the nose for that. But Kovacevic doesn't produce points and is abysmal analytically (41% CF this season, 43% CF in his career), has six times more giveaways than takeaways, and doesn't hit. For a GM looking to upgrade their blueline, the only advantage Kovacevic has is his cap hit. I'd expect about a 3rd from a desperate GM, any more than that and the Habs are laughing.

Carolina traded Fleury for nothing cuz they wanted to give him a chance. He was bad defensively and offensively. Canes fans wanted a second for him, and 1 year later, he was traded for a sixth and they were happy. In a vaccuum, Kovacevic is worth way more

Kulak was literally worse and he got a second and a seventh

If you look at Kulak's time in MTL, he had a higher P/GP (0.20 vs. Kovacevic's 0.17), a better takeaway/giveaway ratio (1:3 as opposed to 1:6), a positive CF (54.8% over his 215 GP, 49.6% in his last season), and he hit slightly more frequently than Kovacevic does.
