In my opinion, Laine and Kyrou's value are pretty much the same so why would Columbus add a blue chip prospect?

Laine and Kyrou would be a one of one swap.

Adding KJ in there makes this an easy decline from Columbus side.

I would personally keep Laine over Kyrou but their values would be close.

No way CBJ gives you Kent Johnson for Kyrou let alone adding Laine as well.

The Blues would want no part of Laine whatsoever, so value doesn't matter.

You get KJ for free in this. No shot the Blues turn this down.

Heh. You guys pretending the Blues would even remotely consider a Kyrou for Laine swap as "even" is cute, but not close to reality on multiple levels. Kyrou has considerably more value, if only because he has a lower AAV and far longer deal.

Spot on. This is closer in value than a lot of Columbus fans would want to admit, but still not enough to pull the trigger. I don't see a world where Columbus moves Laine. The rest of the league is so down on him and his contract is so much higher than what his production warrants, it just makes sense to keep him and hope for a rebound, or move him when you absolutely have for either cap or roster reasons.

It’s closer than you’re implying. It’s not even $600k/yr difference, and Kyrou is signed until 2031 so you’re tied to that cap hit for five more years for basically the same production from the same position. You can argue that Laine isn’t a stylistic fit for whatever the Blues’ system is, but you’re being absolutely ridiculous with your “100 foot isotope claws.”

Laine + Chinakhov for Kyrou is something I'd do, I think that's there for value but I doubt many fans of either fanbase would be happy.
