Beard Year 2
Those players aren't even worth the 2nd round pick let alone giving up 2 prospects who will likely be roster players for the Canucks next year. On top of that there isn't even cap savings in this trade.
Canucks easily pass.

fix this mess
Garland has been so good for the Canucks this year. Whenever a line has been struggling Tocchet has put Garland on that line to get them going. The production has been slightly better for Garland over the past few years and Garland is younger. Cap hit is 1 million more for same amount of years. I think the Canucks stick with a guy they know works in their locker room and pass on the deal.

Hronek - Leafs Perspective

I assumed it was because this trade is moronic for the Canucks to do.

Hronek - Leafs Perspective
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_92</b></div><div>No thanks from the Leafs actually.
If Hronek won’t sign long term in Vancouver, then the Canucks don’t have any leverage - this deal would then be an overpay by Toronto. & if Toronto is spending $8M every year for 8 years on a defenceman, it’ll be for a physical, defensive guy that can clear the net front. Not someone like Hronek who needs to play with a good partner to be anywhere near good</div></div>
Canucks actually have a ton of leverage since he has to sign with us or be traded to anywhere we want because he doesn't have any trade protection.
The deal would not be an overpay. The late first is decent but not great and Liljegren does not have the value leaf fans continue to think he does around the league. He's 7 years removed from being a first round pick and still doesn't crack the lineup every night on a team that let's be honest doesn't have a great defense. I agree with you that Hronek needs a good partner to hit his peak potential.

Canucks decline. I don't understand why Leaf fans continue to think Liljegren has that kind of value.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlafCaufZuki</b></div><div>How about a Matheson for Hronek swap?</div></div>
Nah... Matheson wouldn't get PP1 time behind Hughes and Hronek is also 5 years younger. The big reason the Canucks paid the price for Hronek was getting a D partner for Hughes and Hronek age fits the team and it's contending window.

I can't see the Canucks trading Hronek honestly. Finding top pairing right shot D is the hardest thing in hockey. Giving up a first and second round to acquire him was a steep price but honestly his play has in my opinion increased his value from when he was in Detroit.
Not to mention the Canucks are looking to contend while Demko is under contract for the next 2 seasons. Even trading for a top RD prospect doesn't fit their window. I just don't see a fit unless the package is unreal.

Way way way too much money for Zadorov and Brossoit.
Trading Hronek is a massive mistake. Finding top pairing right shot dmen is nearly impossible especially ones that are just entering their prime.

Random thought
Canucks pass. Come on people Monahan just went for a first. You think it's going to take only 1 extra first round and a B level prospect will net you Pettersson.
You'd need to offer multiple prospects like Molendyk, Wood, Kemell plus multiple firsts to get him.

Petterson
Leonard is a great prospect but I don't think him and a first is enough for Pettersson. The other pieces are irrelevant.

Canucks aren't going to trade for Lindholm then sewer their playoff chances by trading Pettersson before the deadline. Even so I doubt that's a package that the Canucks would move Pettersson for.

I don't think either team does that Tampa deal. I doubt Buffalo wants to give up a first round that again is likely to be a lottery pick and Tampa is going to squeeze every bit of juice out of that core before they blow it up. I don't think this is the year Tampa starts that rebuild.
I don't think Middelstadt carries that much value to warrant a first round pick back.

You can't be serious with that Sens trade can you?
Oilers aren't going to trade you the only goalie they have any faith in whatsoever. Especially when they've won 17 of their last 20.

Jets are near the top of the league. They aren't going to let start selling important roster players for 3rd round picks.
I doubt the wings would do that deal.
Two useless players for Leddy, Blues decline.
Hawks would have really no NHL caliber goalie if they made that trade.

Rebuild number 2
There is no universe where the Canucks take on Barrie. He is at this point in his career simply a pp guy and the Canucks have Hughes and Hronek that would be pp options long before Barrie is considered. Garland right now is playing so well and driving one of the best 3rd lines in hockey. Canucks decline.

Huberdeaunt
I wouldn't do that deal if I was in charge of the Avs. A proven supremely skilled dman in his early 20's is worth far more then a young winger who hasn't established himself yet and an overrated dman with a bloated contract.
As much as I don't like Laine and his contract any trade that could possible get Calgary out from under that Huberdeau deal is a win. Calgary should accept.

Nashville can't believe the offer and instantly accepts. What an overpay. Saros is a great goalie but wow that's a lot to give up. I appear to have more faith in Woll then you do.

Calgary should thank their lucky stars someone wants to trade for Huberdeau. They should run to the phone to call this trade into the league.
Can you explain a former 3rd round pick who still isn't a fuil time NHLer is worth a 2nd and 3rd round pick? Coyotes decline.
The Oilers trade is a win for both teams. Oilers would likely have to move out Campbell which may make this complicated.

Nobody is going to take on Huberdeau without a serious return to take on that kind of cap hit for that contract that still has an eternity on it.
I'm really not sold Tanev will fetch a first round.
Caps deal seems possible.

All trades got accepted on CHEL
I am far from a Flames fan but I doubt they'd part with those players for Nurse. His contract is one of the worst in the NHL for the value he provides.
To get that cap room off your roster in Campbell you will have to give up something of value for a team to take on an AHL goalie gettting paid 5 million a year. It will likely take a late first or a second round pick.
No chance Philly parts with a dman playing 20 minutes a night for 2 late round draft picks. Even less of a chance they'd retain money for such a feeble return.
