Id just like to see the Leafs pick an approach to constructing a blue line and stick with it. Either make a big, heavy, defensively sound blue line, or construct a strong two way blue line. Seems like Treliving's philosophy generally trends more towards the former. Adding both Murphy and Tanev would be decent, especially with the offensive firepower we have. Pulock would be really, REALLY nice, but we all know how stubborn Lou is. That man will never concede.

I'd prefer Pelech if the Islanders decided to go that route

I'm not really a huge fan of Murphy. I'm sure he'd be fine, but for what I'd expect it to cost I'd shoot higher.

Tanev, like Zadorov, is the perfect guy to add after you've already addressed the blue line in a more substantial way. We need more clarity on the future before wagering all of our futures to go all in again this season. Really don't want a situation like last year where literally every pending UFA we acquired left. That is not how you build a contender. Identify talent that you can add to benefit you for now and later. I think Connor Murphy is a guy who checks nearly every box for what the Leafs are looking for (aside from offensive contribution). If we can get a blue line that is defensively sound throughout and plays heavy, then I'd be willing to give up some of that desired offensive output. Getting Murphy and a sparkplug like Reese Johnson out of Chicago would be a fantastic play. After that, go out and get Tanev (with retention) and Duehr, and you've got yourself a team. If Gio is out for a while, adding a Nick Seeler type wouldnt hurt either

Knies - Matthews - Marner
Bertuzzi - Tavares - Nylander
Gregor - Domi - Jarnkrok
Duehr - Kampf - Johnson

Rielly - Murphy
McCabe - Tanev
Seeler - Brodie

Woll
Samsonov

Lilly is fine though...

But to your point, I'd much rather spend assets on a guy that could help us for this year AND in the future before spending assets on Tanev

Lili would pinch in for Seeler whenever he returns in this case. Shift Brodie to LD

Makes sense... In that case, would rather not pay for Seeler and have Gio

Just to add my two cents, I really hope TOR does not add anyone over 26.

They still need many things:
- two-way 3C
- potentially at top line LW (preferably a grinder type)
- a stay at home top pair RD
- a two-way LD for the 2nd pair that can contribute offensively/defensively
- a 4th line winger who excels on the PK

You don’t have to go all in every year.

FLA went to the fukcin Cup final with making only 1 trade.
GATc1ofa4AAKSPO?format=jpg&name=large

Florida Panthers

This team should just roll with what they have and hope they get lucky 🍀

Unless it’s a trade for a young cost controlled player that can grow with the team. That’s my wish anyways

I dont think they need a 3c at all Domi has been fine just get a goal. Sure defense is meh but those guys are winning their mins im good

https://twitter.com/nylanderthews/status/1730303531972718625

Domi last year had 13 points in 19 playoff games as Dal 3c

Dont see the need for LW wither as all have looked good especially Bertuzzi whose won his mins. Like Knies has 6 goals in 25 shots not bad. Gregor seems to have settled and not just be a body. And Robertson looks comfortable with Domi and Jarnkrok.

https://twitter.com/KPapetti/status/1730422271775260720

A steady top pair RD and a 2-way LD is really all they need. 4th liner meh experiment with the kids some more

Dont look to much into what FLA did as Cinderella runs be a thing. Bob doesnt get hot they aint out of round 2

The one thing im scared about for Seeler is its Philly's system that makes him good. Im worried he comes in and just looks awful here and if we give a 3rd for him its gonna look ugly

Thats why im hesitant to go get him. If its a 5th sure take it and risk but they probs gonna want a 3rd like Schenn

I think the over 26 rule is a bit much, but yeah, while of course anything can happen once you're in the playoffs, this team has a lot of holes and I don't have much faith.

I am so over this is all

Nick Foligno - age 32 (1st, 4th, 4th)
Mark Giordano - age 37 (2nd, 2nd)
Ryan O’Reilly - age 31 (1st, 3rd, 4th)
Jake McCabe - age 29 (1st, 2nd)
Luke Schenn - age 32 (3rd)

I argue of all of those Foligno was the bad one

Everyone else was fine.

McCabe is still here and 29 pretty good for a top 4 Dman

We tried to keep ROR and Schenn but **** happens. ROR especially would have been great here as what he got 10 goals in NSH rn

Gio was weird but on 800k was a steal these 2 years. Just a hard worker and even at 40 is just a gem

Age is but a number its how they perform that im more concerned about and through watching most worked nicely. Its just the first guy you wish you never did lul

Cause lets be real if Tree extended ROR and Schen idk if anyone would complain especially if ROR had those totals on our third line

My biggest issue is: How many of those stuck around as a prominent piece; a 1st round pick/their cost worthy?

Yep, heck if Foligno extended on some cheap deal idk how many would have complained. As he is a nice bottom 6 guy who can kill penalties and add grit

Well we do know they tried to keep everyone at some point

Foligno was very close to extending but BOS gave him a deal he couldnt refuse

ROR was offered the same deal couldnt stand the pressure or Toronto and I dont blame him for going. Also why wouldnt a music lover not want to go to NSH lul

Like the one guy you can argue who cares was Schenn as 2.75m is an overpay for 11 good games with Rielly. They wanted to keep but that contract and money just no lul

Want to get paid play with Rielly lul

Thats what you do when you try to win

Look at other teams

Boston last TDL 1st + 2nd + 3rd for Orlov and Hathaway and a 1st and 4th for Bertuzzi

R1 exit to FLA but at time was worth as they were all in.

Hey everyone smile - Last year the Leafs games were being streamed on Sportsnet for free on Youtube. Not this year.

Someone mentioned to me a week or so ago, that they are still being streamed somewhere for free (legally). Do you know where that is?

I would love to watch this game!

Much love and thank you! smile

TBL spent a draft class of picks on Jeannot lost to us R1 last season

Spent 2 1sts on Hagel lost in Finals

Then the years they won their cup

3 1st round picks and other assets on Savard, Goodrow, and Coleman

So yea they were spending to and yes they won but what would have happened if they didnt win their cups same thing would apply.

Was not only young guys at all as they were not winning cups with just those guys. They added good players to pair with these players guys who costed a pretty penny.

Also made trades throughout the season to get better

McDonagh, Sergechev, in and Namestnikov/Drouin out with assets to.
