From the view point of the Ducks, this is what is needed.
Nylander, even with a contract extension means very little to the Ducks, they are still in the rebuild process and doesn't look to be pushing the panic button for instant help.

Seeing all these Nylander for Zegras trades are really bad.
Only way the Ducks consider this is with added 1st Rd picks and the thought of if Nylander doesn't resign, they can trade him to get a couple more high Rd picks.
So trade Zegras to gain 4+ high Rd picks/prospects.
I would disagree that Nylander means very little to the Ducks because they are definitely looking to exit the rebuild sooner rather than later, or they wouldn't have signed guys like Strome and Killorn to multi-year deals. That being said, they value Zegras much more than Nylander, and I think they would reject the offer (even though it's a massive overpay), because getting 4+ 1sts or Nylander + Minten + 2 1sts would set them back in their rebuild.
Nylander+Minten+ the 2 1sts might not set them back in terms of the rebuild but it's quite possible that Nylander is declining or asking for a trade before Anaheim really hits their contention window. Also, unless the Ducks are confident that Minten can at least be the future 2C (he would need to prove something at the NHL level in the regular season at least) and Nylander/Strome the current 1C up (edit: until Leo Carlsson takes over), I don't think the trade would make much sense for Anaheim in terms of roster construction even if they become competitive after the trade.
I definitely, agree with the main point of all this that Zegras for Nylander 1 for 1 is bad. Even if this is viewed as two Cs for each other, the problem with this is that Anaheim doesn't have the supporting cast to even try accelerating their rebuild (which is usually always a bad idea). Also, considering that the only reason Zegras (like Drysdale) isn't signed is because Verbeek is trying to squeeze him to get a value contract (I'm guessing in the Thompson-Hughes range but closer to Thompson). There's 0 chance that would work with Nylander for obvious reasons. Landing Zegras in a trade would probably require that a young C (22-25) is coming back in the return to Anaheim. Either something like Chytil+ for Zegras or Zegras+ for Pettersson if they do look to accelerate the rebuild.
