Timothy Liljegren is basically a bottom pairing RHD, Brett Pesce is worth more than Liljegren and a 2nd and 5th round pick. Plus Pesce is seeking 7 x 7.0 on his next contract.

Swapped the 5th for a 2nd in the Liljegren trade, seems like fair value for a young guy who can compliment a second pairing. If it's 7 x 7 so be it.

Anderson could potentially be moved but I think Savard is here to stay. Remove Savard and Peska keep Minten and Habs may come back with an offer for that 2nd round pick instead of the thirds. Anderson is worth a late first, but given the 5M cap hit, it may be a piece that would drop his value a bit.

Columbus has no interest. Not because Jarnkrok has no value, but because they already have at least four similar players under contract and very little cap space available.

I think the Canes still pass, They'd probably want Nylander in any Pesce swap not a bottom pairing RHD and 2 2nd round picks.

At least say why… I like Anderson but right now he ain’t a fitting piece on Suzuki’s line and he got another 4 yrs on 5.5M… If Habs can get a good prospects and some picks he may be worth moving and make room for a bigger name to join in a year or two. Gallagher is immovable at his price and years.. someone need to go. May as well look at options that can be played out and have a return.

More silliness basing a trade on resigning. Leafs and Avs say no to that proposed trade. Brodie doesn't waive to Ducks. Leafs keep Liljgren instead of one year of Pesce.
A massive overpay to obtain an overpaid Anderson and the unneeded Savard. 7.25m coming to Leafs without any cap going back can be spend a lot better.

Three other commenters in this thread + me say otherwise. Great player but deal doesn’t make sense for Colorado.

Nylander is awesome, but he is not the area of need for our team. For the money he's going to demand, we have Rantanen and Makar at similar deals. We just can't afford another player at that cost on our team. And I prefer MacKinnon, Rantanen and Makar to Nylander.

Trades based on resigning, you mean exactly what Tkachuk, Huberdeau and Weegar did in Treliving's last blockbuster trade? Because we're getting Pesce long term we can afford to give up Lily. Leafs and Avs both seriously consider that trade, Leafs should go for it.

Anderson is a guy who could pot 30 playing in our top 6. Similar to T. Wilson or Hyman, put him with some skilled players and let him do the dirty work and he will be exceeding that contract almost immediately. Savard is the type of player Rielly partners well with and can give Mo some stability for a few years.

Top 9 is better. 4th line is better, all 3 pairings are better.
