Making changes
Only reason I don't see Evans going is that he does his job, doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and is able to fit in the group without issues. He's a great 4th liner and I think he's appreciated by the players and management.
If he indicated anything about going to test the UFA market, then Habs may move him. But I do think he's worth a 2nd round pick from a top 5 team, or 3rd rounder from a bottom 5 team. He proved his worth.

Signing Marchy would be a disaster and thinking this team would compete is another disaster. Just accept the tank for another year and then start being mad about still rebuilding in 2026</div></div>
Point taken.
Not going against it... Just trying things out, see how they could play out.
But, I'm not sure about the Marchesseault comment. While he's not a big guy, he still produced more than 40 goals and has a few games left. Taking him on at that salary for 3 years wouldn't be a disaster, it would be prepping the younger guys, giving them another leader in the room who can produce. If Dach is finally healthy (hoping they gave him the year off to fully recup like they did for Monahan) that line would be something to see. They may even compete with Suzuki's line. He could also cost less, depends on how much value Vegas have for him and keep him around.
He may also take less to stay in Vegas... Nicer weather, taxes, and everything else .. I would.. LOL!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kyle_Okposo_Lover</b></div><div>Isles have Mayfield, Dobson and Pulock on the right side. We have no need for Barron rn</div></div>
99.999% of the teams indicate this as having a depth chart. Mayfield was out LITR, so adding a new younger player with offensive awareness while being groomed to up his defensive side by someone like Roy would be a + for the Isles. Bortuzzo is 35, and play 20 games a year.
Anyone who knows Roy will understand he's a coach who likes building players up starting with something positive. Barron has shown great skills in terms of offense for a Dman, his defensive skills are to be tweaked, but Roy is the type of coach who could hammer it into him. Habs do have more than needed, and would most likely trade well with the Isles. For a 2nd draft pick while he was a late first isn't much to give for a player with his potential. Most Dmen develop around 26yrs old, he's young and has size which is a plus when thinking like Roy.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>There's some good choices there. Personally, I like Lindstrom, and Catton's game as a whole over Eiserman's, but if you want a pure goal scorer, then you go him. Dickinson is good, and im happy to see someone if valuing him right with how much top LHD there are in Silayev, Dickinson, Buium.. but i would say that Dickinson is the best out of all three of them. Silayev is good, especially if you want a guy that is 6'7 on our blueline. No matter who you pikc out of those you listed, you are going to get a good player, it just depends on what they want. For me, a center man makes perfect sense, but defensive depth never hurts either. Lets not forget that they have 2 1sts, and 2 2nds this year, so they may even be able to pull a few strings, and get a good defence man, and forward.</div></div>
Exactly.. it's what they view as a must. they have Dach for the center, is he out on LITR for treatment and much need rest like they did with Monahan.. No rush to come back.. Take all the time you need to recover at 100% or is he really not able to play at all. If he's still a risk next year, the shift may well go for a Center like you said.
I Passed on the Russians, too much risk with everything going on right now. Players being held in the KHL, a father suddenly killed when his kid was a foot away from the NHL.. You don't want to recruit and let them rot over there.
If they do go for Dickinson, while he's got points, he's also keeping his plus minuses .. 70PTS but a freakish +56.. No matter how good you are, keeping the high + is hard.

Summer dreaming I know its a long stretch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>Montreal has Guhle, Reinbacher, Hutson, Mallioux, etc as young defenders, and prospects. With them being thin down the middle, i would have to say they should look at a center man this draft. Cayden Lindstrom, and Berkly Catton fits the bill imo.</div></div>
Not disagreeing, I think it's a valid point. I just wonder where and who'll be available and what the top level feel like they actually need. We talk about the depth of the MTL blue line, but really... Are they all top 4? Ghule, yes Reinbacher, to be seen but most likely, Mailloux, dunno yet.. AHLer yes, NHLer to be proven.. So if there is a top 4 ready blue liner in the draft who's available.. Do you pass on him and then make move to pay the front line with UFAs like Marchessault?
Another one is Eiserman, depending on which list you look at Bob McKenzie (TSN) list, he's putting him at no 4. Bob ain't crazy, he's the guy who was saying Wright could be a bust and Slaf was the way better option.. A year later.. We can agree to Bob's mumblings.. Then Lindstrom, Catton and Helenius ..
I did an AGM for draft, My preferences would be for the first picks starting at #4 depending on where MTL goes and who' available:
1. Dickinson - While another Defenseman, he's a big guy who moves the puck and gets in the pluses; You can't skip over a player like that. You get another Reinbacher type player who'll be a major decision maker during games. You suddenly have Ghule, Reinbacher, Dickinson, Mailloux, Matheson, Xhekaj.. Harris, Struble as being interchangeable with Xhekaj when needed and in your farm or development you have Barron, Hutson, Sobolev, etc.. So you have the Top 6 you always wanted, plus other you can trade out.
2. Eiserman - seems more like an offensive guy able to play both ways and is at a bigger stature than Connelly with a whopping 40lbs more for almost the same height. He also defends better in the corners and is able to use his quick shot for goals. We get another Cole Caufield but on the right wing, at a bigger size. You suddently give Dach some power offense to his left side.
3. Lindstrom - another forward at center with offensive potential but with size compared to Catton;
4. Catton - He's a good player, center and would need 1 year in Laval, but would be another forward with scoring potential they need;
5. Helenius - Another forward with lots of offensive potential.
But DIckinson's stats are impressive this year. Way off the charts, even for an OHLer..

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>habs_need_Scoring</b></div><div>pretty easy no from the habs. thats a crazy price for a 25 year old who hasnt broken 60 points Beck alone could be a better player in a few season, not to mention hes a center who plays a complete game and fits their timeline better. I dont see the appeal to that deal in any way from the habs. Also how would he want 9 mil? lol Necas going to probably extend in the 7-8 mil range and is a much better player.</div></div>
Yeah but he's been in Buffalo and he's getting accustomed to AVS plays.. He can easily break 70-80 pts with a center like Dach (if he can stop being injured). So I did the 7.85M$ for now. Beck is playing in the OHL, not AHL nor a division one Euro league. There is way too much talk about players before they get into the league. Mittelstadt is an NHLer who's been stuck in Buffalo county for too long. Given the right center, he could be way better than what he's shown.
About that 9M$.. Player's salary will go up as the salary cap goes up. Suzuki, if he continues on his track record, could be the best deal in the NHL in 3 years from now. But other players on the team will ask for more. Hence why he's probably worth 7 to 7.5m$ form now to 2 years, but may be more down the line. Who knows. With a healthy Dach who was actually able to make other better, he may be the other winger they need down the road.

Yeah, in 2 years, I don't see them bringing him in now. They'll want him to develop and sign him when others are into their first or second year of big pay days like Ghule, Reinbacher, Slaf etc.. So I have a feeling they don't want to rush it and let him finish school.

LMAO! 3 deep on RHD... Yeah.. this year.. And Aho isn't helping, Bortuzzo is also not a great one, 35 and UFA at the end of the season, and Isles have 2 RHD in AHL.. Do you know the value of RHD in the NHL?
Do you know who Patrick Roy is? Do you know how he values effort and RHD Dmen who can play good in an lower than average team like the Habs right now?
Saying they don't need a player like Kovacevic who's not at his full potential and already providing something to the bottom Habs is like saying you don't need a puck to play hockey. Isles need RHD's at low cost and good return on investment. Kovacevic could be a good fit for Roy's style.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Matt1567</b></div><div>I know how stupid this sounds but lowkey I'd rather we keep Armia and move Andy or Gally if possible (unlikely), if not then don't sign marchessault. Armia has been probably the best he's ever been lately and can be a 3rd liner at this level easily. As bad as he's been, Anderson can't continue being this unluck, and I think if nobody wants him now (which I doubt anyone does) then keep him, no need to dump him and his value only goes up as his contract nears end</div></div>
Problem with that is that while I like the Armia of the past month, I can't remember Armia from the past 3 years other than one good month per season. Hence why I would trade him out while he's able to bring something in instead of nothing if goes back to is old self around TDL..

Basically called him out saying he got all of his insider info from Bob McKenzie's Twitter feed... Which he did basically, even Bob called him out on it, and he replied indicating he would do some major harm to myself if I wasn't behind a keyboard. Let's say he buckled down his speech when I came face to face with him in his hometown (where I'm from) and reminded him of the severity of his keyboard threats. His buddy jumped in saying that Renaud was sorry... While Renaud was running.. LMAO!
TVA Sport got the trash that RDS left 'em..

Good and valid points. I'm just not sold on Dach being a full season player. His bad luck has been on-going since he came in the NHL. He's super talented, may actually be a 1st line Centerman, but if he keeps injuring himself He'll be very well paid for the time he actually plays. Armia is good right now, but damned if I didn't trade him in a heart beat for anything at all. Especially that. Hugues would be shaking his head saying things like "No, I promise you, they are giving us Dickinson, AND the 2026 2nd round pick fro him.. yes I'm sure it wasn't a prank call!!! Just submit it before they revert this trade!!" to the NHL board..

Now to Draft and into Summer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LAkingsfan77777</b></div><div>Vegas would rather trade someone else. Roy is young and locked up for a team friendly deal. Also if they were interested in trading him, no highly doubt that he's worth that much. it's a pretty big overpayment.
Additionally COL would say no too. They don't want Barron and they're isn't room for him. Evans isn't the best player either and COL would probably want MTL to retain a good chunk of his contract.
Finally, if Vegas needs to get money to spend, who are they spending it on? Marchessault isn't leaving Vegas and he's also not worth 8 mil.</div></div>
I disagree, but your comments are fair.
For me Roy is worth it. Beck will be a good 3rd or 4th Center; Roy is putting up numbers and from what we're seeing right now with Hugues is that they are fishing for QC players out there worth their time. I think he'd fit that profile.
COL - You have to look at their current cap situation, it's not bad, but it could be better. Barron would come back a better player than before and can take the spot of the older guys that may not be returning next year with a cap hit of less than 2M$/yr for a Defenseman that's not bad. They also need a good 4th line centreman, and for some reason, HABS players are suddenly good in Colorado.. Just look at Drouin and Lehkonen.. Lehk was nowhere near what he brought to them. I think Evans ain't gonna be that, but he'll be good enough for that 4th line.
Vegas/Marchessault - He's got 58 pts in 65 games this year has proven his worth in playoffs, so I think he's heading for the bank for his last contract. My view is that MTL will gain from a player like him, he's a leader and a QC native which like I said above, seems to be a road taken this year with Hugues. So he'll be careful, but right now he needs forwards since he's got the defense pretty much summed up for the next few years. I put in 8M$/yr, but you have to take into account that we need to put numbers at the max we think they may get for our team or from others that would want to bank in on UFA's.
With the slew of young players, MTL would benefit from him.

Not whining at all... I'd actually move on that.. To get Crosby in MTL.. I think it would be a steal.. Personally I'd give Dvroak (50% retention), Barron, Harris, Beck, Norlinder, WIN 1st, and 2X 2nd rounders. If they want I'd even forget about the 2X 2nd rounders and provide WIN 1st AND CAL's 1st, but would remove either Harris or Barron form the equation. This would need to be with that Crosby signs for 3 years in MTL (around 7M$yr probably) . He'd be a great asset for the Habs and the money cash cow that he'd bring in.. OUch..
If Gretzky was able to forget the C on his jersey, I think Crosby can take an A instead and leave the C to Suzuki and teach him.
I'm saying Dubas does worse trades than that.. You have a way better view than him of what to get for Crosby. He'd trade in his 2023 Ferrari for a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, would still have to pay 30K$ at 6.6% interest for 8 years on it and think he won the deal..
I bleed for Pens fan.. I do like the Pens, they should have a better team in order to at least try one more time, but Dubas isn't a builder.. He'll destroy the team to get that first overall then 2 or 3 top 3 picks and still be unable to figure out why he can't win series. Just look at what he did in TO.. Really.. You have Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares, and Rielly.. still he never woke up to figure out he also needed defensive defensemen, a good goalie and some grit players. He got more point makers that don't block and don't carry the puck.. That's a huge hole on defense and that'll hurt your team. He's doing the same bringing in Karlsson.. Should've gotten a player with less points, but more +'s and grit around the net...
I hope the Sr Management open their eyes with the attitude Crosby showed in the locker room after that awful trade for Guentzel..

Every one think Slaf is a trade asset.. Why? Hugues picked him over fan favorite, I don't see him going anywhere. Ghule, Reinbacher, Dach, Suzuki and Caufield, same thing they're not budging the core they are building up. Personally Dach wasn't a good deal.. He's played 1/4 of the games since he's been here and he's injured 90% of his body while washing dishes.. The guy can play, he's got talent, he's one hell of a player.. But he's not playing so he's worthless. Should've kept Romanov.
Harris, Barron, Mesar, Beck, Condotta, Norlinder, Dvorak, Anderson, Gally, Armia, Evans, Pezzetta, Ylonen, Kovacevic, are all players that could be viewed as assets to trade for lots, or nothing depending on the player.
