Yeah, man. It's easy. Just 3 trades, several under market contract signings, and severely depleting your goaltending tandem. No problem.

3 trades in the course of a year is very normal. Who is underpaid?

Domi and Shillington + Raddysh, pending how those two perform this year.

Probably also Liligren, considering he's also arbitrator eligible

Yes, quite seriously...? Why on earth would we want to add another depth forward and take on the contract attached to him, while paying to do so?

You call that paying? That’s giving garbage to us and getting a good player back.

Domi gets a raise and term so I have no idea why you think that’s underpaying him. Kylington hasn’t played hockey in a whole season so who knows if we will even want him? Raddysh could make more but I’m using Sprong as a comp. How much more could Lilly get? Look at what other defenceman got who have been better than him and tell me how much more he’s worth?

He’s not signing for that long. He will want to hit the open market when the cap is 95M or more. And who cares what Aho got paid?

2 assets out, both similar in value. 1 asset in we have no use or desire for, worth roughly half of what you've proposed. Yep, I'd call that paying.

It can be done. I don't think people are suggesting that it CAN'T be done...rather it SHOULDN'T be done. Nylander isn't worth $9.5M (looks above to make sure I got it right...oh $hit you have $10.25?!?!). This is very likely the NHL's worst goaltending tandem. There are countless examples of "hot rookie" goalies not actually turning into anything in the NHL and Woll hasn't even reached that level yet. Woll has 11 career games and you're making an assumption that his AHL career .898 SV% and 3.04 GAA will translate to something better??? This team also lacks depth needed for the playoffs.

Well you are signing Shillington as a UFA, so obviously he will have played this last season. As far as "who knows if we will even want him?" I mean, YOU did make the team, right? It wasn't me logged into your account? I don't really know how to answer that.

Domi gets a raise - on the season he took a huge discount for. That raise is also very inconsequential when you factor in the cap increase. I don't even think it's much of a raise at all.

A pick that will almost certainly not produce an NHLer and a bad defenceman who is a giveaway machine for a player who can play on the 2nd or 3rd line and can play all forward positions? You’re out to lunch.

I’m not paying Hellebuyck over 9M a year so you go with what’s available. Goalies are a crapshoot. No one can predict goalies. You either find an elite one via the draft or you go with average ones via UFAs.

If that's how you feel, why did you propose the trade? Keep him then if you think he's so magical.

Yes I’m assuming he will play and I’m assuming he’s going to be worth what he’s making. Both of those are reasonable assumptions. I’m not guessing he’s going to rank and I’m not guessing he’s going to turn into Paul Coffey either. Domi making another 1M with term at his age is the best bet for him. If someone else offers 5M with 3 or more years then good for him.

I understand goalies play can vary AND that a newer goalie hasn't had their weaknesses exposed yet which give them a temporary benefit to the good, but to anyone not in TOR...it's highly debatable whether Woll is good enough for an AHL starting role. He's does NOT have a good AHL track record. Surely you have to at least admit that.

Paying them isn't "hard" as you suggest. But filling out a good roster around them with there inflated contract is..
Willy shouldn't be given an eight year contract and certainly not over at the price you paid him 10.25m. Is Matthews worth to be the second highest paid player in the league?

Seriously, Kovacevic is very underrated and plays a position of need for the Habs, where as Jarnkrok is a bottom 6 (maybe middle six) winger. He is paid more than twice as much as Kovacevic and doesn't fit our window. We already have Armia who is taking the spot of a younger guy why should we trade for Jarnkrok to jam it up more?!
