Gudbranson is a cap dump. To get Pettersson you need to give up Jiricek, Johnson, and a 1st minimum.

Canucks pass easily, I don't see a deal for Pettersson without Fantilli + coming the other way.

Canucks easily pass. It costs a first to dump Gudbranson so that takes a way a ton of value from the trade (probably near all of Mateychuks) and then it's essentially Sillinger and Jiricek for both Elias Petterssons which doesn't move the needle. Yes Jiricek is a top prospect but it costs a lot more then that, and I can't imagine VAN would move EP2 as well

I love that the solution to "which Elias Pettersson?!" is just trade both, that's awesome.

Any time a top-10 (5?) player at their position is included in a theoretical trade, you're instantly going to get no's because the trading team fans don't value the traded-to team's prospects as highly, and the traded-to team fans underestimate the value of a top player at that position while also overhyping their (our) own prospects.

It is unrealistic, CBJ probably won't pay for a long-term 1C now that Fantilli is in the system, and VAN don't have a real reason to move Pettersson. This isn't a bad framework for a deal, one of Johnson or Jiricek would need to be going to Vancouver, but it would probably include a top-5 protected 2024 1st over more prospects, and I think CBJ are content with keeping Gudbranson.

Maybe it would look something more like Jiricek, 2024 1st, 2025 2nd, and a different high-end prospect like Dumais? But again, neither team probably looks to make this trade based on where we're at.

Perhaps keep those "dreams" to yourself if you want to maintain any semblance of respect on these sorts of sites.

Actually got looking the other day there hasn't been a massive blockbuster trade in the past 4 years involving multiple 1st round pick equivalence with the exception of Tampa Bay taking advantage of a Chicago team fire selling for Bedard. People need to realize the era of the massive blockbuster trade is over and we are not going to see "I want your best 4 prospects for our star player" anytime soon, especially under a flat cap situation.
