Why is the Blues ask like 4000 times larger than all the rest? Not a single one of those packages would get you anywhere near Thomas. Nylander as UFA is not worth either of those pieces by himself, and the Blues would NEVER sign that ridiculous extension.

CGY is the only team that I would expect to be interested in adding him. PHI and SJ are rebuilding. SJ might make him part of a three way deal, but they extract no value out of a rental and wouldn't risk going in to the season flip him.

That might be the worst trade offer for the Blues I’ve seen on this site. How does a 24 year old center making around $8M for the next 8 year PLUS our best prospect give us a year of Nylander and then pay him way over what he deserves for 5 years. We can keep Thomas and Snuggerud both for under $10.5M for the next 3 years

Huberdeau and Panarin are absolutely better players.

Tavares is a center, and was overpaid. He was still better than Nylander until as soon as last year.

Seguin was a much better player when he signed that contract and was also a center. He got a hip replacement 2 years ago that derailed his career.

Doughty is still was better than Nylander and like the last 2 plays a far more premium position. Same with Werenski.

Kopitar has won 2 cups and was paid towards the end of his prime. He was better than Nylander when he got that contract and once again plays the more premium position of center

Bobrovsky has long been criticised for his contract being awful. But he did win 2 Vezina's before getting that contract and just carried his haphazard team to the finals.

Maybe if Nylander had any actual results in his career a team could justify overpaying him but obviously that's not the case since he hasn't achieved anything. If you think he is worth that much you can keep him. No one else thinks he is though.
