FrostHart to TOR

Description
Carter Hart, a #1 goalie under RFA control for Nylander 1yr/ expiring contract add in Murray's bad contract to sweeten the deal for TOR.
Lilegren for Seeler - Favors PHI; Seeler has been solid, Lilegren excellent RD prospect Philly needs RD depth.
Samsonov for Frost - Favors TOR - RFA for RFA deal here; Frost very capable of scoring, can play C or Wing; replaces Nylander at significant discount; is a young RFA prospect; plus you gotta love the marketability of Frost's name going North of the border. Samsonov middle tier starting G, return for Samsonov at his salary is going to be lower than the return for Frost.

Overall, Frost's value is at a peak for Philadelphia to sell. Acquiring Nylander allows Philly to flip for more assets.

Also Philly could explore moving Samsonov or they could choose to keep him with the cap space they have enough room. Either way the depth in net will be valuable for PHI moving forward.

I'd rather have Sammy, Willy and Lilly than those 3 and it's not close

Samsonov had better numbers and a better season than Hart’s had in 4 years. Why would Toronto wanna swap them in the first place, let alone give up the most valuable player in the deal in Nylander?

Toronto never offers this don’t get caught up in all of the dumb trades Leafs fans make on here. Some of them would give away Nylander for basically free lol it’s not reality

Absolutely nothing in for the Leafs. Samsonov/Hart....even. Liljegren is superior to Seely and has much more term. Nylander superior to Frost. Murray an easy buyout if necessary.

Seattle has no cap for Nylander.

Good goalies stop pucks. Stop blaming the team when it’s been 4 years in a row. Goalies job is to stop the puck, stop complaining and just do the job you’re paid to do.

Hart has had 1 bad season. .907 on one of the worst teams in the league is darn good. He's also had a much better career than samsonov

Dude how many times do I have to tell you Laughton is worth whatever GMs are willing to pay for him? This is my last post to you before I mute you because for whatever reason ur unable to comprehend what I tell you on a daily basis. The GMs set the market I don’t. I’ll say it 1 more time for you in case it takes you a few tries to understand things. I, the poster (not a GM), do not set the market (GMs do), for the players (on the GMs team) in the NHL. The flyers have turned down multiple offers of a 1st for Laughton because Briere wants more simple as that. If you don’t understand that then I wish you luck in life.

You have stated opinions with no proof to back it up. So it’s just opinion which you are entitled to. But so are others and most fans on this site (only my opinion) agree that a career bottom 6er who’s has never scored over 20 goals is worth a 1st rounder, never mind a 1st +.

Many reports and insiders both national and local had said that the flyers have turned down multiple offers of a 1st for Laughton and not a single Leafs fan believes it and calls the reports fake. But yet Friedman, 1 reporter, says that Murray can’t be bought out IFFFFFF he is hurt. And every Leafs fan and Leafs team now says Murray is out for the year hurt. The irony is pathetic lol get out of my mentions.

Again you are entitled to your opinion, but enjoy the season with Laughton & company. There’s always the year after the year after to look forward to …

None of what I said is opinion. Reports reported. That is a fact. You seem to be unable to comprehend the difference. Not surprising.

Everything you wrote is an opinion. Listen if you want to believe all, some or nothing if what is ‘reported’ by so called insiders - totally within your rights. I choose to believe none of it - as is my right. I am sure some info that is reported is accurate but majority imo is just made up. Doesn’t change my assessment - never in a million years was or is a player like Laughton worth a 1st

Idk if anyone else in the comments mentioned this, but you state in the description how the value is split up, and though you acknowledge that Philly wins in value on the Liljegren/Seeler portion, you argue that the Frost portion completely makes up for it. Samsonov could be argued of being at similar value to Hart in trade value considering they're only 2 years apart in age, both are RFAs, and the only real important difference would be that Sammy's previous season was better (I get he played for a better team but that isn't too important as literally any goalie by that argument can be good with the Leafs, and a Saros trade would give up less assets).

This wouldn't be a problem if the trade was something like Sammy and a 3rd and a 4th for Hart (as the 2 years of age is something to get some return value on) but you then go on to strap a clear leafs trade loss to it in Liljegren for Seeler (though I appreciate you acknowledged it above). Now if the trade was Lily/Sammy for Hart/Seeler the Leafs would lose the trade, though I'll put biases aside and admit that, though I'd chant to fire Shanahan and Treliving immediately, it at least has some merit, so how does adding Nylander and Murray for Frost fit in? A Murray cap dump is the cost equivalent to losing a first, but even then Frost is not that valuable.

Edit: idk why half my argument got cut off I'll mention it in another comment

Quickly reorganizing the trade arguments above, you can see the jump in value that's looked over

Hart < Nylander (No question here)
Frost = Liljegren (These guys are at similar points in their career and have similar ceilings and floors, so it comes down to positional preference in a trade, which though both center and RHD are in high demand, both teams need the defense)
Seeler < Sammy+Murray (The difference here is arguably the biggest, as it can be compared to Hart and Murray being traded for Seeler and a 4th. just completely out of the question)

Don't get me wrong, GM did do a good job of trading away surplus and for assets that both teams would understandably want, just the valuation is completely off.

I'm open to criticism of my valuations in the case that I might've fallen to my bias, but I do honestly doubt it, and if I did, it probably wasn't to the extent the average Leafs fan is used to.
