Kampf has only 10 teams he’s not to be traded to without his consent and the other 21 he can be.. there’s no indication that Anaheim would be on his list and players actually waive to help facilitate trades all the time.
You always have this narrative that players won’t waive their NTC for trades.. it’s simply not true. Give it a rest.

Just like Calgary took on Kuz to help trade Lindholm</div></div>
Leafs have no issues making the cap work.. & Marner is a substantially better player than Lindholm so he would return more.
It’s also about team needs - when Toronto looked at trading Nylander last summer they told teams they were targeting a “young top 4 defender with a right shot” or don’t bother calling.. no reason to think they’d move Marner who’s better than Nylander for anything less

LOL. Marner is not a cap dump. Leafs have plenty of cap space for next season to still sign impact players and keep Marner.

Trouba says no.
While New York may be a team that Marner would waive for, it’s not at this price. Rangers likely have to start with Braeden Schneider and another young player, if not Treliving finds someone else rather easily to acquire Marner

100% agree that cap hit matters.. that still doesn’t change anything. Marner out produces Batherson and it’s not just by a bit. Marner is also elite defensively and a key part of both the PP and PK.
Batherson’s career high in points is 66 which he had this year… Marner has had more than that in EVERY season he’s played except his rookie season where he had 61 points.. as a rookie Marner was better than Batherson is now.

Marner For Saros
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>See? This right here shows you're obsessing over a stat line, not watching hockey. Saros has played great. One goal in game one that he'd like to have back, sure. He's played great the rest of the series.
Besides, I REALLY don't think playoff performance is an argument you want to use, when you're trying to defend why Marner has so much value ;)
Goodnight, goodbye, and good luck.</div></div>
A goalie’s job is to stop the puck. Saros has not done that at a high rate this year, regular season or playoffs. That’s what save percentage proves.
& at least Marner was still himself in the regular season and produced. He’s not been great in playoffs, 100% agree but he’s also not fully healthy.
My point was that you’re overhyping Saros based on his name and reputation but the reality is that he hasn’t been nearly as good as you’ve stated. I’ve proved that more than once.
But hey sure, believe that he’s “playing good” when he doesn’t get playoff wins enough or stop the puck enough. That seems like a good combination for a team 🤷🏻♂️

Marner For Saros
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>Yes, obviously wins are a team stat - one that goalies have a huge hand in (those wins are near impossible to get if your goalie isn't playing well). It illustrates that Saros was likely playing above average hockey during that stretch. As someone who was actually watching him play, I can attest that he was. The eye test isn't perfect, but obviously no one point of analysis is. That's why no one gets pedantic about one specific stat like, save % or whatever.
I assume Samsonov was also playing above average hockey when he went 9-2-2 during that same stretch (check your stats). Good for him. If he could play at that level for as long and as much as Saros has over the past few years, he'd probably be worth something too.
Now please, take no for an answer. There's no interest in Marner on this end. RW isn't a big enough need. His salary is high as it is, and an extension that comes with a raise would definitely be too much. Whatever the acquisition cost would be, it's not worth it for NSH. The Preds have a better chance of success next year with Saros, than they would with Marner instead. Negging on Saros doesn't change that.</div></div>
Samsonov was 5-2-5 for the first 3 months of the season with a .858sv% and even in February he was 6-2-0 with a .888sv% … so to prove my point, wins are purely a team thing and goalies don’t have to play well to win games.
Saros was a league average goalie this year with a .906sv%. But you say he’s been playing better? .. how’s that .880sv% in the playoffs so far through 3 games? That’s not NHL level goaltending. Save to say you’re overrating him but okay we’ll trust your eye test 😉

Marner For Saros
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>Just trying to have a little fun there, guy. Let's not take the front page hysterics of Canada's worst newspaper too seriously. Really just wanted to illustrate that Saros is the main reason his underdog team is keeping staying competitive in their series. Marner's one assist and lackluster play is a big reason why TOR is behind in theirs.
Saros finished 4th league wide in goalie point shares, 1st in saves, led NSH to a franchise record undefeated streak. <strong>He's been strong since Feb - not just during that month. </strong>
NSH doesn't make a Saros for Marner trade because a year of Marner (even at his very best) doesn't do anything for NSH if they don't have an elite goalie. Would you go all in with a goalie as inexperienced as Askarov? I'd argue Marner's contract is a bit steep right now. Obviously he's going to want a raise on the next one, and I don't think he's worth it.
RW is the deepest area of NSH's prospect pool, so Marner isn't filling some big need for them anyway. If NSH were to trade Saros for an established player making big money, a center or RD would be their target.
Bottom line is NSH is a better team with Saros, than they would be with Marner instead of him.</div></div>
Saros has literally been league average since the end of February.

No it’s not. But what I’m saying is it doesn’t matter if you’re the better team at the end of the day, so much still has to go right for you to win. It’s not all about the best team wins, if it was there would be no point in playoffs and the season would end after 82 games.

For a team that's supposedly the "better team" your 5v5 goal scoring is equal through 3 games.
Hardly the sign of you out playing anyone.
Some facts are you are getting beat bad. Game 1 BOS completely controlled from the puck drop. 2 5v5 goals and they were never looking back.
Game two was a close game that TOR managed to edge out.
Game 3 BOS out played you to the point that the ref gave you 5 power plays on some pretty ticky tack calls to help you get back into it but TOR couldn't do anything with it..... hardly out playing BOS there buddy.
If anything in the moments that counted it was BOS that out played you by a significant differencce.
But shows what you know about hockey.... arrogant one.</div></div>
You know what’s funny.. you not realizing that just because Toronto is down 2-1 in the series that they haven’t been the better team. THAT shows how little you know and that you’re probably more trying to troll a teams fan base than anything.
Look at the last two years of first round for Toronto:
2023: Toronto was heavily outplayed by Tampa for most of the series, yet won the series 4-2
2022: Leafs outplayed Tampa for the majority of that series and lost the series 4-3
The best team doesn’t always win. If they did, there wouldn’t be a point in playoffs.
But okay kid, have your opinion. Take care.

Marner For Saros
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>I never mentioned anything about "who's better". Comparing a goalie and a winger is a pointless apples vs oranges debate.
NSH isn't adding anything, because even a one-for-one trade doesn't make sense for them. It doesn't matter how much TOR values Marner or what they want for him, if NSH isn't in the market for the guy.
Pump up the "elite 2 way winger" making almost $11M, and downplay the goalie making less than half of that for having a bad first half of the regular season all you want. One guy is making front page headlines for being invisible in his series, and the other is getting player of the game accolades from his teammates. I'm glad NSH has the second guy.
https://twitter.com/TheTorontoSun/status/1782888983736840241
https://twitter.com/PredsNHL/status/1783301548690284562</div></div>
Your argument for Nashville not making the trade a possibility is the Toronto media vs the Preds giving their goalie a 1 game award that means absolutely nothing? LOL
What stats are you looking at to say that Saros only had a bad first half?
October: .915sv%
November: .880sv%
December: .911sv%
January: .906sv%
February: .926sv%
March: .905sv%
April: .904sv%
… the guy has literally been barely mid level goalie all season. He had one good month in February and the rest he’s barely above the league average save percentage of .903sv%
Sounds more like you’re hyping up Saros than me hyping up Marner.

Marner is worth more than Saros. It’s not a matter of “who’s better” so much a matter of positions - goalies historically don’t get big hails in trades. Getting an elite 2 way winger for a goalie coming off his worst statistical year would be a massive overpay.
You’d probably be adding at least another 2 assets plus Saros to get Marner

1) Marner isn’t 100%. He’s still nursing the high ankle sprain and he’s been shutting down Pastrnak the whole series - it’s not all about offence with him. He looked good in game 3.
2) Samsonov has been fine, 1 bad goal in game 3 and another that maybe he coulda had but was a picture perfect shot. Outside of only the 2nd period of game 1, he’s been steady. He’s not the issue - the lack of scoring (again) is the issue. Mainly the PP (again..)
3) The kids aren’t who are going to help you win the most. The Matthews line has been the best. The Kampf line has been great. And the Tavares line has had its moments. Holmberg and Robertson are getting caved in defensively so they gotta earn their ice time by being reliable in their own end before they get anymore ice time.
Relax. It’s a 2-1 series where Toronto has been the better team for 8 of 9 periods but unfortunately the best team doesn’t always win. Swayman has stolen games for Boston and Toronto’s offence needs to find an answer for him
