Conroy do something Part 4 Finale

Équipe: 2023-24 Flames de Calgary
Date de création initiale: 19 juill. 2023
Publié: 20 juill. 2023
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Calgary Flames off-season trades
Reasons for trade: Ottawa gets upgrade at defence, Calgary can use Brannstrom as experiment and and RFA option.
Columbus trade: Johnny Gaudreau gets reunited with Elias Lindholm, even though they lose Sillinger, Fantilli is on the way.
Boston trade: less plausible, Boston gets their future goalie in Dustin Wolf while Vladar is temporary backup and Backlund is veteran forward to fill the void potentially left by Bergeron. Calgary can get their platoon of Markstrom and Swayman, Trent Frederic is another fixture in the top 9 forward group.
To Ottawa: Noah Hanifin
To Calgary: Eric Brannstrom, Tyler Kleven, conditional 2nd round pick 2024 (will turn to 1st round pick if Senators make 2024 NHL playoffs)
To Columbus: Elias Lindholm
To Calgary: Cole Sillinger, luca Del bel belluz, 3rd round pick 2024, and conditional 2nd round pick 2026 (will turn to 1st round pick if Columbus makes 2026 NHL playoffs)
To Boston: Mikael Backlund, Dan Vladar, Dustin Wolf
To Calgary: Trent Frederic, Jeremy Swayman, Jake Debrusk, conditional 2nd round pick 2026 (will turn to 1st round pick if Boston makes both 2024 and 2025 NHL playoffs)
RFA signings:
-Trent Frederic $2.5 million for 3 years
-Jeremy Swayman $4.5 million for 6 years

Lineup after trades
Huberdeau/Kadri/Pelletier (~18.5)
Debrusk/Sillinger/Coronato (~6)
Mangiapane/Sharangovich/Frederic (~12)
Coleman/Dube/Duehr (~8)
Weegar/Andersson (~10.8)
Kylington/Tanev (~7)
Brannstrom/Zadorov (~6)
Scratches: Oesterle, Gilbert, Ruzicka
Swayman/Markstrom (~10.5)

I’ll preface by saying that I’m no longing pressuring Conroy to make these moves right now. By deadline, there should be some effort made to reshape the team as needed. The mission: don’t screw up like Treliving last time. I hope Conroy can negotiate a big return for these players.

I've seen a lot of these posts about the Flames. Your situation sucks, and I genuinely feel for you all. Guys have stated that they don't want to re-sign, but your GM can't get proper value on his assets because the market sucks. That explains why you all got peanuts on the Tiffoli deal.

You've also gotta think about what these trade partners value and how desperate they are. Boston absolutely needs a long term 1C or 2C, but they are not desperate for one this year. Backlund doesn't meet the long-term part of the equation either. There is no way they throw away their best young assets for a 35 year old center unless they think it puts them over the top. Those players are better off either on the team, or being used in a trade for someone who better meets their needs.

Ottawa is already LD stacked (Chabot, Sanderson, Chychrun, Brannstrom) No need to trade for one year of Hanafin.

How is Boston giving up the 3 best players and still having to potentially give up a 1st Huh?

Hanifin isn't more than a rental in Ottawa, and Ottawa isn't moving Branny and Kleven for a rental. Both have long term value to Ottawa

Boston gives up 4 valuable pieces for 3 lesser pieces that they don’t want or need.

Seems legit. 🙄

Wow, you know nothing about the Flames players (Backlund makes all linemates better, score a lot, and always finishes high in Selke votes, while Vladar is a proven backup) and apparently don’t know Dustin Wolf was goaltender of the year for 2 years straight in the AHL and just previously goaltender of the year in WHL for 2 years consecutively. Congratulations on your major ignorance

Two guys have stated they won’t re-sign and one traded, the rest is unconfirmed and you need to listen to precisely what is said about them

Debrusk is 7.5 years younger than Backlund while providing pretty much equal scoring. Debrusk > Backlund

Frederic is again a touch younger than Vladar and will actually be contributing every night to the lineup instead of the 20-30 games a year Vladar would play. Frederic > Vladar

Swayman is only 2.5 years older than Wolf and has been putting up real high quality numbers rather than just being a theoretically good NHL goalie like Wolf. Swayman > Wolf

Maybe you need to deal with your own ignorance.

Wow, you know nothing about hockey in general other than being a massive homer.

Unlike you i actually follow every team and player and am not a shill. I don’t need their resumes.

Reality:

Both Debrusk and Swayman > Backlund.
Both > Wolf
Every piece > Vladar. Who B’s had for 6 years, we know him well.

And again…Boston does not WANT or NEED any of those 3.

That is reality. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Don’t bother replying. I won’t see it. You are going on the ignore list. I have tried multiple times but it is impossible to have a legit conversation with you due to your ignorance and homerism. The only thing you seem capable of is attacking anyone who does not worship all things Flames. Quite frankly it’s tiresome, boorish, and foolish.

Have a great life.

He has no value in comparison to what they have and what's coming. A redundant part that would need to play on the off wing.

Trust me I did and it confirmed my initial reaction. Its funny you tell me to do research but in another post you claim "Backlund always finishes high in Selke votes"

Can you define what high is because a quick look and he's finished Top 10 just 3 times in his career. In his 13yr career he only received Selke votes in 6 seasons. So for over half his career he's never recieved a Selke vote....but he "always finishes high in the Selke votes" as you say Huh?

I appreciate it but the negativity (by media and fans) is very overdone. With out-to-lunch coach we only missed playoffs by 2 Points

Yes, Backlund was only full time NHLer in his 5th year roughly. Please send my what websites you used, maybe our local FAN960 radio host is exaggerating when he said 7 times on air.

Yea thanks found it a bit later! So Backlund had Selke votes in 6 (not 7 years) and was top 13 in 5 years, not too shabby! I do like DeBrusk quite a lot, but he’s as 3rd liner RW on our team as we have multiple wingers who play the right side (Mangiapaine and Dube likely RW1) and Matt Coronato is likely to play 2nd line because the Flames need to keep him moreso as scorer, not checker. Backlund overall has more value for the next 2 years likely….due to 2-way play mainly, ability to make linemates better, and is the best *possibly available* replacement for Bergeron or Krejci. It’s too bad the Western Conference gets so little viewership from out East or more Boston fans would know what I mean (while you seem reasonably on top of it)
