Max Pacioretty has signed a new contract with the Washington Capitals.

Another contract with performance bonuses, but lots of risk here, Pacioretty was already a shell of himself before the injuries and has barely played in the past 2 years.

That's exactly what I expected to see him get to after his terrible injuries. I'm shocked that finally it's not an overpayment.

Really hope he stays healthy and he shows everyone he's still got it.

Still a good player when he's healthy. But risky considering the amount of games he's played in recent years. Decent gamble for a team like the Caps

He worths the risk. Caps won't be a contender and can get some assets for him in TD, if he stays healthy.

Fine with it, but somethings going on. Either Backstrom's retiring or someone (Kuznetsov) is getting traded.

I'd be shocked to see Caps contending this season. But NHL is full of suprises, so we'll see...

They're making trades and signings that indicate that's what they want to do. Also have Ovechkin

Surprised he didnt go to a team with better odds of winning a cup, but I guess they didnt want to take the risk.
TDL might not be an option if the 2mil in bonuses comes along in any deal.

Pacioretty was around a point per game his last two years in Vegas, if he can stay healthy this is a steal for the capitals, but if he can’t stay healthy they get a bottom 6er at bottom 6er money or a mainstay on LTIR. With Mantha off the books next year, this is a smart, minimal risk buy for Washington.

I feel like the Caps are trying to field a competitive team just for Ovechkin. Not so much for being a contender

This is just one of those contracts that i believe most people hope works out bc it means Pac was healthy and enjoying his career again

I'm sure they want to because of Ovechkin. But take a look at their roster. That's not a contending roster at all to me.
